VWS launched the Top Chef Challenge to find the best female plant-based chefs in America

Vegan Women Summit (VWS) announces that it is launching VWS Top Chef Challenge, a new cooking competition to find America’s best plant-based female chef. Taking place on May 19 in New York City, the Top Chef Challenge aims to showcase the talent of women in the food industry and will feature judges from plant-based companies Impossible Foods, Wicked Kitchen and TINDL.

Prepare the top dishes

According to VWS, there will be Top Chef Challenge Invite three female chefs from the United States to showcase their culinary talents by creating their best plant-based dishes using ingredients from participating brands. Dishes will be judged by Top executive Leslie Sims, CMO of Impossible Foods; Pete Speranza, CEO of Wicked Kitchen; and Andre Menezes, CEO of TiNDLE.

The winner will be crowned directly at The Vegan Women Summit, May 18-20 in NYC.

Returning to NYC

In addition to the Top Chef Challenge, VWS is planning a series of new events for its 2023 Summit, the organization’s largest event to date. The summit, which is open to all genders, will More than 100 features Speaker and brand activation across the food, fashion and beauty industries, including extended networking and professional development sessions.

This year, the summit is being hosted by NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who will host a VIP reception at the Mayor’s Mansion. The 2023 gathering also includes winners of the event’s first-ever Public Choice Speaker Competition.

Highlighting women’s leadership

Besides helping female chefs gain exposure, VWS says it wants to challenge “[H]Highlight the importance of women’s leadership in creating a more sustainable food system through delicious and enjoyable plant-based innovation.”
