The Whitney House in Old Worthington reopened last week after closing for a brief space and menu update! The restaurant first opened in 2014 in the former PK O’Ryan space, and this is the first major update since then.

The entire menu was revamped, including its house cocktails with a collection of barrel-aged libations.

Beverages also include a collection of craft beers, a curated wine list and soft drinks.

The dinner menu is divided into starters, soups and salads, sandwiches and entrees.

New entrants include the roasted antipasta wrapped in prosciutto.

The pierogis stuffed with truffle, fontina cheese and braised rib. (They are a required order.)

And don’t miss out French fries loaded with prosciutto and cambozola.

There are some old hits and new faces on the starter menu. The skirt steak rubbed with chile served with a homemade chimichurri.
Served with their new Tavern Fries, which replace the long-time favorite Fries. (Which may be a point of contention with some people.)

Another winner is the short ribcoated with a beef demi-glace and served with mushrooms and green beans over cauliflower puree.

And the walleye in the pan served on a bed of roasted vegetables with shrimp in a rich Cajun butter.

You’ll also find some new desserts on the menu, such as chocolate chip cookies with sea salt served with vanilla ice cream and smoked caramel sauce

Or theirs fudgy frosted pretzel cakelayered vanilla ice cream, homemade dark chocolate caramel mixed with toffee, almond butter and pretzels.

Regular visitors will also notice small tweaks, including some new booths at the back bar, carpeting, updated lighting, sound-reducing ceiling tiles.

But the restaurant has kept the same tavern atmosphere.
happy hour is Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., with $10 house cocktails, $3 beers, $5 glasses of wine, half appetizers and $5 sandwiches.
The Whitney House also serves weekend brunch complete with french toast brioche, hash browns, steak and eggs, an egg sandwich, quiche, waffles, eggs benedict.
