The Little Things Newsletter #348 – Live, Laugh, and Lots of Good Food!

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! We had a crazy storm here this week and one of our biggest trees fell down. Luckily, no one was hurt and nothing else, just a brief power outage. Super fun times over here. So, my boys spent today dismantling it for firewood. The boys are learning all sorts of nice new things this week.

ON THE BLOG this week: This Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Shrimp Skillet is a skillet full of sauteed shrimp tossed in a tangy barbecue sauce with sweet chunks of pineapple and red bell pepper. This quick and easy meal earns two thumbs up from my entire family every time I make it.

Tender flank steaks are cooked in their own juice, creating a rich and super flavorful broth to create the Carne en su Jugo (aka Meat in its Juices) recipe that my family loves so much.

Would you believe cauliflower can be fried to a crisp with a simple packet of frozen cauliflower? I’m here to tell you that this Frozen Cauliflower with Garlic Peppers Air Fryer is absolutely delicious. All you need is ten minutes and a few simple seasonings.

Sweet and slightly tangy, this creamy poppy seed dressing recipe has had a permanent place in our fridge for a number of years. Easy to make and as adaptable as can be, this is the best poppy seed dressing I’ve ever tried.

Cheesy, sassy pizza quesadillas are as flavorful as you can imagine. They’re a messy, super fun, and lightning-fast way to satisfy your next pizza craving.

Carrot Cake Pancakes with Maple Cream Cheese Syrup, the name alone is enough to make me grin. That was a real breakfast treat.

Juicy, fresh pears are topped with a generous cinnamon-sugar crust to create this Cinnamon Spice Pear Cobbler. This unforgettable cobbler manages to be both buttery and flaky without going mushy, even after a day or two in the fridge.

What I crave: Ina Garten’s chocolate cake is what chocolate lovers’ dreams are made of, my friends. My friend Sue shared the recipe and it’s been on my mind all week. It’s definitely time for me to bake something.

my favorite thing This week is this little keychain jewelry holder. It is very small and attaches to your keychain, bag or gym water bottle. It easily holds a couple of rings and I love how secure it is. It absolutely will not open accidentally. I don’t travel with a lot of jewelry at all, but I love being able to take my rings off and not have to worry about how safe they are.

What I watch: Throwback Okay, you may remember I’m a huge Hugh Jackman fan, but this movie? I’m just telling you about this to tell you not to bother. Gosh, that was a frustratingly annoying movie.

I really wanted to like this one, but gosh, the trailer really was the best part of this movie. I would have turned the film off after half an hour, but my sisters persuaded me to finish it. I think they just wanted to laugh at my frustration with the film, but they claimed it was funny because it was so corny. I’m going to need Hugh Jackman to make a new film ASAP to get this one out of my head.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in him and I am helped; Therefore my heart rejoices, and with my song will I thank him.” Psalm 28:7 NASB

Have a great week full of little things that make you smile!

Maria
