The 7 Best Christmas Desserts – Leite’s Culinaria

This Christmas desserts are our favorite dishes for this spectacular holiday meal. Even if it is perhaps the most difficult decision of the day – eggnog cake or gingerbread ring cake? (Go on, have both. It’s Christmas.)

I always think of Christmas dinner as the final stretch of the fun holiday race. (New Year’s Eve was never a big deal for The One and I.)

For this reason, Christmas dessert – the last part of the last meal – sometimes falls short in our homes. A simple chocolate cake, some 36 hour chocolate chip cookies, a lemon blueberry cake. Even a pint of store bought ice cream.

This year, however, is all different: just before Christmas (and on his birthday), The One is retiring. So I figured a spectacular dessert would be a fitting way to mark the end of his career—and herald the beginning of our 24-hour togetherness (yikes!). And one I’ve never made before: the sticky toffee pudding below.

I’m curious. What about you? With Christmas – and this year Hanukkah – just around the corner, are you overwhelmed with entertainment and cooking? Do you neglect dessert or do you do your best?

Let me know in the comments how you made a sweet ending to one of the last big holidays of the year.

White Christmas cake with white chocolate buttercream

This is my favorite white cake, and while I’d eat it plain, adding cranberry jam, white chocolate buttercream, and sugared cranberries isn’t a bad idea either.

A clementine cake on a round silver platter, next to a slice on a plate.

clementine cake

This clementine cake gets its chic look from clementines, satsuma oranges or tangerines. The cake itself is easy to make using simple, everyday ingredients like flour, butter and eggs, then topped with candied clementine slices. Because it contains fruit, it’s kind of healthy, right? Hm.

Recipe

My husband just told me that this clementine cake is one of the best things he has ever eaten. We’re great cooks and keen eaters, and we’ve eaten LOTS of good food.

This is a delicious recipe. We have a tangerine tree outside the kitchen.

I will do this many more times. Thanks very much.
