In fact, I had one in Portland a few years ago that’s still one of the best I’ve had. However, I had to take a shower when I got home because all the spices had gotten into my hair and my hair was giving off a terrible smell. But it was worth it.

Anyway, we’ve created some favorites Burger Recipeit’s like this Brazilian burger I will list the rest at the end of the post so you all can have a list of them. But this Teriyaki Pina Colada Burger recipe (which was inspired by dear Jeana Hammer), well, thanks to us 2 secrets for the best burgeris great!

How this recipe came about

This is one of those burgers where you kind of have to trust me. I know some might find it odd that we baste the burger, but trust me, it’s so delicious. Good god it’s good! I mean, if you can make a teriyaki steak (which happens to be one of my favorite tepanyaki grills), why not a burger?

And then while they were cooking, I thought we just had it Maui Pork Nachos with Pina Colada Sauce This is one of our favorite football dishes ever. So why not use the leftover sauce for a pina colada mayonnaise?! BOOYAH BABY!!

Ingredients for a Teriyaki Pina Colada Burger

That’s what you need to make these heavenly burgers! This is just to give you an overview of the ingredients needed. See the recipe card below for measurements of each ingredient.

  • Brioche Bun – The bun makes the difference and the brioche is soft and fluffy, but goes well with the sauce and the juicy burger.
  • ground beef – We recommend using 80/20 or 85/15, but nothing leaner. The more fat, the more flavor!
    • This recipe also works great with ground turkey or chicken!
  • Teriyaki sauce – You can make the sauce yourself or buy your favorite brand from the store
  • salt and pepper – extra taste
  • butter – is used to grill the buns
  • pineapple – this grilled pineapple ring glazed with brown sugar is to die for!
  • Pina Colada Sauce – takes this burger to the next level of amazing!
  • Mayonnaise – used to thin the pina colada sauce a bit
  • Colby Jack Cheese – You could use any cheese you like, but we love the flavor of Colby Jack in this case.
  • Bacon – prepared perfectly crispy

Which hamburger meat is the best?

The ground fodder cut from the shoulder has a fat content of 15 to 20 percent, a rich flavor and a tender, moist texture.

It’s the best choice for burgers, but we like to take it to the next level by adding some beef tenderloin too. Ground sirloin is inherently a bit dry in burgers, but it has an amazing beef flavor. That’s why we combine both to get the rich beef flavor and juiciness you need in a burger!

When is hamburger meat ready?

The inside of a raw hamburger usually contains bacteria and is safest when well cooked through.

Because E. coli is killed at 155 degrees Fahrenheit, the USDA sets the minimum safe temperature for ground beef at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Pina Colada Sauce

The Pina Colada The sauce is originally from our ham dipping sauce and you have to try it and the world’s best honey mustard sauce this holiday season.

It turned out so fantastic! We all agreed that the only thing that would have made it better was to use this grilled pineapple with brown sugar, but we were trying not to eat 5 million calories at once, so we went with plain pineapple .

What to eat with a teriyaki burger

This burger recipe is quite filling, so I like to combine it with light side dishes like our watermelon salad or our tomato and cucumber salad.

Hot, salty fries are always a hit with burgers, too! So you can’t go wrong with this, and a tall glass of lemonade is just the thing!

Tips for grilling hamburgers

  • As you shape the patties, make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from rising in the center while baking.
  • Shape the patties slightly larger than the buns. They shrink slightly when cooked, so don’t make them too small.
  • Only turn once! This keeps the burgers nice and juicy.
  • Never, and I mean NEVER, press down on the top of the burgers with a spatula. This will squeeze out all the tasty juices.
  • After grilling, let the patties rest relax Simmer for at least 5 minutes to allow the juice to distribute.

How long does a hamburger keep?

Cooked ground beef will keep in the fridge for three to four days, but hamburgers are one of those meals that must be eaten hot and fresh. Once assembled, they don’t last very long. So if you’re concerned about having some leftovers, I would strongly recommend keeping everything separate and reheating and assembling right before consumption.

  • In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup pina colada sauce and mayonnaise.

1/3 cup [Pina Colada Sauce], 1/3 cup mayonnaise

  • Butter each side of the buns, set aside and heat the grill over high heat.

2 tablespoons butter, 4 brioche buns

  • Gently mix the meat with the 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce.

2 pounds [Perfect Burger Mix], 2/3 cup teriyaki sauce

  • Form four burgers with a small indentation in the center of each patty, brush with some melted butter, then sprinkle with salt and pepper on each side.

2 tablespoons butter, salt and pepper

  • Place on the grill and grill for 4-7 minutes.

  • Using a spoon, drizzle the teriyaki over the burgers.

    2/3 cup teriyaki sauce

  • Flip the burger and, using a brush or new spoon, spread teriyaki over the burger, adding a little more at the end to taste.

    2/3 cup teriyaki sauce

  • Cook for another 4-7 minutes or until done. (A well-done burger won’t be as flavorful, so we usually choose a medium-sized one)

  • Just before cooking, place cheese on each burger and close the lid to melt the cheese.

4 slices of Colby Jack cheese

  • Meanwhile, grill the pineapple until marks form, about 2 minutes, then flip and grill again.

    4 slices of pineapple

  • Place on a plate and cut out the core.

  • Grill each bun, inside-side down, until grill marks appear.

  • Spread the pina colada mayonnaise on each side of the bun.

  • Lay the burger, pineapple and bacon on the bottom and place the lid on top.

    4-8 slices of bacon

  • Enjoy!

If you leave the core as you cook, the pineapple won’t fall apart and will be easier to flip. Once it’s done, use a paring knife or small donut hole cutter to remove the core.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
