manufacturing tartar sauce Making it yourself is so easy and tastes better than the things you have bought. Made with ingredients you probably already have on hand like mayo, onions, pickles, lemon and more. Serve it alongside fried fish, fish and chips, crab cakes and tuna patties!

But wait, what is tartar sauce anyway?
Tartar sauce is a cold condiment commonly used as a dip for seafood dishes like fried fish or as a topping for sandwiches. It’s usually made with mayonnaise, chopped pickles or relish, and various seasonings like salt, pepper, and dill. I like the added hint of lemon AND cucumber juice and I think you’ll love my version. If you’re anything like me, you really pile it on fish sandwiches or any type of breaded fish.

combine ingredients
OK, that’s quick! Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and stir until well combined. Completed! Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Save the remoulade
Store tartar sauce in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 7 days. I don’t recommend freezing because of the mayonnaise. The texture will change and become grainy as it thaws.
It’s important to note that homemade tartar sauce doesn’t contain any preservatives like store-brands (that’s a good thing!), so it’s best to consume it within a week to ensure freshness and prevent spoilage.
