Tips for a perfect taco ring

Working with croissant dough isn’t difficult, but there are a few tricks that make it easier.

  • Substitute ground chicken or ground turkey for the beef. Chilled beans can be added to the bottom layer of batter.
  • Make sure the croissant dough is chilled. This facilitates processing and prevents tearing
  • Slightly chill the ground beef mixture before assembling the ring (or chill completely if you’re making it ahead of time) to avoid heating the dough.
  • Gently shape the crescent roll pieces to ensure an even ring.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking while baking.

Let cool and then serve with your favorite toppings. We love a variety of classic taco toppings like pico de gallo or salsa, black olives, avocados, shredded lettuce, or guacamole.

Leftover Taco Crescent Ring

This recipe makes really tasty leftovers, especially on a bed of lettuce, taco salad style.

To store: Place leftover pieces in airtight containers with some additives (listed above), then seal tightly. Keep refrigerated until consumption.

Renew: Enjoy it cold like a taco salad or heat it up in the microwave. Add a squirt or two of hot sauce to freshen up the flavors!
