Taco Bell is testing a vegan Crunchwrap

It’s happening! Taco Bell is testing a vegan crunchwrap complete with plant-based beef, dairy-free sour cream “blanco sauce,” and vegan nacho sauce. The new animal-free offer is available for a limited time at select Taco Bell locations in Los Angeles, New York and Orlando. Here’s where you can get yours:

  • Los Angeles: 6741 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028
  • New York City: 976 Sixth Ave., New York, NY 10018
  • Orlando: 11893 E. Colonial Dr., Orlando, FL 32826

In addition to the new vegetarian-friendly adaptation, CrunchWap also features shredded lettuce and shredded lettuce on its signature oversized flour tortilla. Missy Shafk, director of global nutrition and sustainability at Taco Bell, said:

We never want our vegan and vegetarian fans to feel like they have to compromise on Taco Bell. The goal during product development was to create a vegan option that was as tempting as the original, while being equally convenient as a ready-to-order menu item that required no modifications. The Vegan Crunchwrap has been years in the making, and we’re sure our fans will love the final product.

Taco Bell is already one of the most vegetarian-friendly fast-food restaurants. For easy ordering, customers can use the Taco Bell app’s “veggie cravings” option and then customize menu items to exclude sour cream, cheese and creamy chipotle sauce. Any menu item can also be ordered “fresco-style,” which is veganized by replacing dairy with pico de gallo.

Not a fan of fast food? OK! We can all celebrate more plant-based options in accessible grocery stores. Someone going on a road trip and needing to grab a quick dinner, live in a community with little access to food, or just enjoy the convenience of fast food, everyone Deserves a chance to choose animal-friendly foods. That’s why it’s so important for fast-food chains to add more plant-based menu items.
