This Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is at the top of my list of easy breakfast ideas and is also great as a post-workout snack.
I know, drinking something green feels wrong. But it’s oh so accurate, trust me.
This smoothie is super quick to make and full of healthy ingredients, so let’s take a look at what makes this spinach smoothie recipe so great.
material
This is a super simple smoothie with just 4 ingredients that you can easily find at your grocery store so let’s go!
banana
Ripe bananas are best for smoothies because they have natural sweetness and make it extra creamy.
You can use a fresh banana, or if you don’t have any ice, a frozen banana can do wonders to keep that smoothie cool.
Spinach
This healthy green smoothie requires a handful of fresh spinach. I use baby spinach (and grown is better too!).
This will give it a nice color but don’t worry, the other ingredients will mask any weird flavor you can imagine.
Nut butter
High in protein, peanut butter is my secret ingredient to making a smoothie that’s both delicious and filling. Stick with the smooth kind though so you don’t get any bits stuck in your teeth.
liquid
I chose unsweetened soy milk to make a vegan smoothie but if you want to keep the calories low, you can use another non-dairy milk or dairy milk of your choice, or just plain water.
Obviously, milk is preferable over water to maintain the creaminess and create the perfect smoothie.

Health benefits
If you want a delicious smoothie that is full of health benefits you are in the right place!
Bananas and spinach are rich in dietary fiber. My favorite feature of fiber-rich foods is that they keep you feeling fuller for longer.
You won’t be as hungry afterwards, which helps you snack less on things you promised not to do.
You’re going to get a load of iron and potassium. Potassium helps fight high blood pressure and prevents muscle weakness.
Iron, a key nutrient, is used by the body to make myoglobin which delivers oxygen to the muscles – essential if you’re working out.
A spinach protein smoothie is also great after a workout.
With 16 grams of protein from spinach and peanut butter, an 80 kg (176 lb) person already consumes more than 20% of the daily recommendation – necessary to keep fit and strong.
