You don’t answer

Vanilla or cinnamon protein powder is my choice here as it provides just enough sweetness and its protein content will help keep you fuller for longer and satisfied until lunch.

Oats

Oats and whole wheat flour are used together as they both have good levels of fiber which aids in digestion.

Sweet and salty

A little sugar is added to give some extra sweetness. But don’t worry I balanced out the sweetness with some salt (a key baking tip!).

Rising Agent

Next is baking soda which helps the high protein banana bread rise. If you don’t have baking soda, you can use baking powder instead.

spices

We’re going to pop some cinnamon. It compliments my favorite spices and bananas for this dish!

Nuts and seeds

Lastly, pumpkin seeds and pecans are going to have some great health benefits and add crunch to meals.

Bananas are obviously a key ingredient for protein banana bread recipes. And you have to make sure they are nice and ripe. When a banana has black spots, it’s even better!

Protein Powder Banana Bread FAQs

Here are answers to your top questions about banana bread:

How to store banana bread?

Baked goods like banana bread store well in an airtight container for up to 4 days. It can be frozen for a few months if you want to double the recipe and save one for later.

What to serve with banana bread?

This healthy protein banana bread is really great on its own but if you want to serve it with something, a drizzle of maple syrup or jam works well but be aware it will add calories to the total.

Can you make banana bread ahead of time?

Yes, you can make banana bread ahead of time because it can be frozen for months.

When you’re ready to eat it, take a portion out of the freezer and let it thaw a few hours before you’re ready to eat it.

How do you add protein to baking?

Adding protein to baking is easy, you can do it by adding simple ingredients like eggs, peanut butter, almond flour and Greek yogurt.

Or, you can add synthetic protein in the form of whey protein powder or plant-based protein powder.

Can you replace flour with protein powder?

Yes, you can replace some of the flour with protein powder.

However, you can’t replace it all (I recommend no more than 1/3) because protein powder doesn’t have the same properties as flour and so you’ll still need the flour to help your bake rise.

But remember this is already a protein powder banana bread, so I wouldn’t add too much!
