In Filipino cuisine, these dishes usually come in the form of soups and stews, of which we have plenty. Despite our generally tropical climate, our food is simply the key to warming us up on cold days – even if we don’t have many of them. In a saucepan, heat three tablespoons of cooking oil and sauté the garlic and onions. Once the latter is tender, add 4 ounces of ground pork. The goal is to give your meat a nice light to medium brown hue. Therefore, be sure to fry it for about two minutes. Next add your white corn and cook for another 3 minutes.

In another bowl, meanwhile, combine your knorr crab and corn chowder with four cups of water. Mix this well and pour into the saucepan. Do not increase the heat above a low or medium setting; The goal is to cook this as slowly and thoroughly as possible!

The final step of your suam na corn is to add your pepperoni leaves or spinach. Then season with ground white pepper and fish sauce. And your dish is ready!

Filipino corn soup with minced pork and shrimp

  • Heat oil in a saucepan. Fry garlic and onion.

  • Once the onion is soft, add the ground beef. Fry for 2 minutes or until the outside turns a light to medium brown color.

  • Add the white corn. Let cook for 3 minutes.

  • Place the shrimp in the saucepan. Fry for 1 minute.

  • Mix Knorr crab and corn chowder with water. Mix well. Pour the mixture into the saucepan. Stir and cook. Continue cooking, stirring, for 3 minutes over low-medium heat.

  • Add the pepperoni leaves or spinach and season with ground white pepper and fish sauce.

  • Serve hot with rice and pair with roasted pork chop.
