How to Make Stuffed Bell Peppers with Beef

As we are going to use rice to prepare the stuffing, so it is important to keep the rice ready at first. Long grain white rice is a perfect fit for this bell pepper stuffing. Before you boil them, make sure to rinse them well until the rice gives off clear water during the rinse. Then put the rice together with the water in a suitable pan and boil them for about 20 minutes but keep an eye on the rice and check the rice after 15 minutes. When all the water is absorbed, fluff the cooked rice with a fork and keep them aside in a colander.

Now that the rice is ready, it’s time to do something about the “beef” part of the stuffing. In this recipe, we will be sautéing the beef without any seasoning, as there is going to be lots of sauce that will be later added to the filling. But you can add a sprinkle of salt and black pepper if desired. Sauté this beef in a nonstick skillet until it is brown and drain off the excess beef liquid.

The main part of the filling is ready; it’s about time to prepare the bell peppers. First of all, take perfectly shaped bell peppers, large in size and firm in shape. Cut off the topmost part of the bell peppers and gently remove the seeds and inner membranes of the peppers using the tip of the knife. When the peppers are hollow from inside, place them in a baking sheet with their cut side upward.

The next stage is to prepare the stuffing by mixing all its ingredients. First, take a large suitable bowl and start adding sautéed beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper and Worcestershire sauce, mix all these ingredients well using a spatula. Remember you just need to mix the ingredients squash them together.

Now that your filling is ready to divide it into the prepared bell peppers and fill those peppers up to 2/3rd full then spoon the remaining sauce on top. Drizzle Italian seasoning over these stuffed peppers. At this point, you can also sprinkle dry herbs over them just to add some amazing aroma.

Your bell peppers are now ready to go into the oven. The temperature inside the oven must be around 350 degrees F. At this temperature, bake the peppers for 1 hour and continue basting them with their sauce every 15 or 20 minutes.

Tips & Tricks for Making the Best Stuffed Peppers

Though this recipe calls for green bell peppers, why do we stick to the same color when there are so many choices. Instead of using one color at a time, try to create a combination of red, green and yellow stuffed bell peppers and thank me later! The different shades of bell peppers make this recipe irresistibly tempting.

Not everyone likes firm and crunchy bell peppers, some people like their stuffed peppers to be soft and juicy. So, for a softer texture, you can blanch the cleaned and deseeded peppers in boiled water for 2 minutes. Then immediately drain the peppers and allow them to cool.

If you don’t like your baked peppers too dry, then there is one easy way to preserve the moisture. When the peppers are all set and ready for baking, simply cover the baking pan or tray with a foil sheet.

For a cheesy treat, drizzle shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese on top of the baked peppers and then broil them for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Moreover, you can switch the beef ground with any other ground meat of your liking, chicken or turkey ground are two good options.
