Spicy roasted broccoli

This Sriracha Honey Roasted Broccoli was a recipe I stumbled upon many years ago and saved to try sometime in the distant future. The website I found the recipe on is no longer active, but I’m grateful the recipe was once shared there.

We’ve been making this flavorful roasted broccoli regularly for years because it’s absolute perfection. The broccoli is topped with a quick glaze of sriracha, honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil before roasting.

It could be the best broccoli of your life – with a hint of sweet spiciness, it’s irresistible!

The flavors come together beautifully here, and the heat of the sriracha adds the perfect kick to the sweet honey on top of the roasted broccoli.

Spicy broccoli

From the very first bite, this Honey Sriracha Broccoli ran, hopped and jumped to the top of my favorite broccoli list. Yes. I liked it so much. I did it 3 times in the first week after I originally did it.

Twice I ate it for lunch all by myself. Ask me how much I care if my kids don’t like broccoli. No, not a bit. There will be more on the table now.

Luckily they don’t have to eat much of it, as I have no intention of wasting any more than necessary on their thankless little palates.

Despite my kids’ aversion to broccoli in general, they eat this spicy broccoli with no complaints. Considering they usually turn up their noses at the sight of this vegetable, I call that a success.

The honey and sriracha in the recipe make this smell delicious as it cooks, which always tempts you to try again. Me? I can’t get enough of this flavorful broccoli and I doubt I can wait more than a day or two to roast another tray of broccoli.

Edited to add: I’ve been making this recipe regularly for over 10 years. I still love it just as much as the first time I made it. My kids still don’t love this particular vegetable that much, but they eat this broccoli happier than anyone else. I call that a win for all of us.

Roasting broccoli is the best way to get tender and well-done florets with small crunchy bits on the outside. I also love cooking broccoli in a pan on the stovetop, like in this Roasted Broccoli with Parmesan recipe, but the flavor and ease of oven roasting make it my favorite method most of the time.

It’s so easy to roast broccoli in the oven. Simply cut a head of broccoli into individual florets, toss with oil and your favorite spices, and bake on high for a few minutes.

Whether you simply toast it with a little olive oil and salt or try this spicy broccoli twist, it turns out delicious every time.

Sriracha Honey Pour Shot

Sesame oil gives this broccoli what I can only describe as “restaurant quality” flavor. Only I can’t remember the last time I had broccoli at a restaurant that tasted this good, and I’m not kidding.

Plus, despite the chopping and time in the oven, this side dish is still faster than takeout delivery!

After you’ve roasted the broccoli in the oven, the only other step in this recipe is to toss the cooked veggies with sliced almonds and scallions.

The sliced almonds and scallions added a wonderful crunch to this side dish, along with a touch of flavor that easily puts it at the top of my “new favorite side dishes” list.
