Irresistible snack Alarm!!! I don’t even know how this happened or what to tell you other than me smoked cheezits and then I ate them all.
Ok, I didn’t eat them all, but for someone who isn’t really into wild snacks like this, it’s a pretty big deal that I couldn’t keep my grubby little hands off.
We had some of our best friends over for dinner and a swim one night and ended up in the backyard afterward, toasting marshmallows and chatting until the stars came out. If you’ve got hold of a copy of our cookbook, Grew up in the kitchen You know what that means Sobremesa and it’s honestly my favorite part of the entire book. I’ll let you read it all for yourself but man it was such a good night.
And then Steve mentioned that his friend had been smoking Cheezits and I was obsessed with it. I lasted 4 days before curiosity got the better of me and I got into it. I decided not to google recipes but just make it myself and I’m pretty sure that’s why it turned out great, it was pure inspiration.

Four ingredients is all you need:

How to make a smoked cheezit snack recipe
When we think of a traeger or smoker, we automatically think of large chunks of smoked meat, but I’m starting to obsess over smoked snacks and desserts, like our smoked peach chips. Here are the basic steps:
- Mix together the oil and Worcestershire, then toss in the cheezits in a large bowl.
- Sprinkle the dressing packets on top and toss again to coat.
- With the lid closed, heat the smoker to Super Smoke for 15 minutes, then increase the temperature.
- Spread the Cheezits on a sheet pan and smoke, stirring regularly, for 1 hour.
- NOTE: If they get too brown, remove them from the smoker.
- Serve immediately or within a few days.
You can also find these instructions in the recipe card at the end of this post.
How long to smoke Cheezits
One of the best things about this recipe is that you have an insanely delicious snack right at your fingertips one hour. It could even happen a little earlier.
Which wood should I use?
Oak or hickory are my go, and Apple is really good too.
Can I use a grill instead of a smoker to make this snack?
I would not recommend using a grill for this recipe. The direct heat of a grill would burn it off before adding much of that smoky flavor you’re looking for. Get a carrier! You will never regret it!
What Spices to Use for Smoked Cheezits?
Combining the Worcestershire with the Italian dressing seasoning really does it for me, but if you want to mix it up, here are a few ideas:
- Ranch Spice Packs (2)
- Carrier dry friction
- Sriracha spice
How to store smoked Cheezits
Smoked Cheezits should be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
When to Eat Smoked Cheezits
The store reply is always. I always want to eat them and I don’t need a reason. But if you want more self-control, here are a few ideas for when to smoke these babies:
- Tailgating
- new years eve party
- baby or bridal shower
