Safe alternative to allergy medication

Table of contents[Hide][Show]

A safe, convenient, natural and effective alternative to over-the-counter allergy medications such as Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra and many others.

With spring pollen in the air, over-the-counter allergy medications are already flying off the shelves at your local pharmacy.

While many people view allergy medications as a benign way to control allergy symptoms, their use is far from benign.

Allergy medications upset the gut

When you look at the side effects of allergy medications, gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea or constipation are common. (1-3)

When gastrointestinal symptoms occur as a result of taking a drug, it is a big red flag that the gut microbiome is compromised.

The truth is that most drugs negatively alter the gut microbiome. It’s not just antibiotics, as is commonly believed. (4)

Disruption of the microbiome is a long-term health risk due to an “autoimmune domino effect” of diseases that have become more severe over the years.

In other words, a mild autoimmune condition like seasonal allergies can later manifest itself in larger ways, which can be debilitating.

One autoimmune disease begets another, then another…

This is perhaps the most important reason to opt for natural remedies, a healthy diet and lifestyle changes as much as possible to relieve rhinitis.

Safe alternatives for rhinitis

The best supplement I’ve come across (and I’ve reviewed dozens of products!) instead of automatically reaching for the allergy meds is Hilma’s indoor/outdoor support (BOGO right now!).

You can also use herbal teas for allergies, but this takes time to make and often some trial and error with dosage before you get it just right.

Most people just want relief as soon as possible combined with the convenience of a pill.

For this reason, I suggest trying Indoor/Outdoor Support first, as it’s the easiest step away from seasonal allergy medication (it also helps with dust mite allergies).

Scientifically based ingredients

Indoor/Outdoor Support ingredients were formulated by physicians and selected based on scientific research.

Additionally, there are no junk filler ingredients. The product is Clean Label Project certified. (5)

Listed below are the four active ingredients that help relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies, including nasal congestion, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, sneezing, sinus pressure headache and postnasal drip.

Butterbur (PA-free)

Butterbur is a powerful anti-allergy herb that’s carefully sourced free of irritating pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA-free). (6)

There is plenty of research supporting butterbur for combating seasonal allergies, including over a dozen clinical studies. About half of these were randomized trials (the gold standard). (7)

Additionally, butterbur is showing promise as an effective alternative therapy for preventing migraines. (8th)

Severe headaches from sinus pressure are a common problem for seasonal allergy sufferers.

nettle

Nettles are one of the most effective herbs for maintaining sinus health.

At least ten research studies have shown nettles to be effective for this purpose, with several of these being randomized clinical trials (the gold standard). (9)

Tinospora

Tinospora is an herb that helps modulate the immune system to better deal with seasonal transitions. It does this by stimulating macrophages, a type of white blood cell that ingest and digest pathogens, cellular debris, and foreign matter.

Over ten research studies on Tinospora describe its beneficial effects on immune system modulation, one of which is a randomized controlled trial (gold standard). (10)

Spirulina

Spirulina is a blue-green algae that promotes clear breathing.

Research on Spirulina consists of over ten clinical studies, one of which is a randomized study. (11)

dosage

The dosage for indoor/outdoor support for seasonal and house dust allergies is two capsules twice daily.

Morning and evening is recommended. Ingestion with food is not required but may improve absorption.

Why not try something different this spring?

Ditch those gut microbiome-disrupting allergy drugs that are putting your long-term health at risk. Instead, try a science-backed natural alternative that’s safe and just as convenient.
