Real chicken or vegetarian? American shoppers want clearer labeling.

The survey results also found that consumers, including those who eat vegetarian “chicken,” prefer authentic chicken for its taste, affordability, and culinary versatility.

In light of these new survey findings, the NCC has written to the leadership of both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) urging the agencies to issue clearer guidance outlining how to label these botanical products and to prioritize enforcement for products that are misleadingly marketed.
