After years as a truck, a second-floor pop-up in the Beer District, and a stop at North Market, Preston’s Burgers has landed its own brick and mortar in Clintonville! They’ve secured a spot on the strip that includes Combustion Brewery and Condado in the old Buddha Bowl/Blunch shop.
The space includes a bar and a collection of tables, with deep lilac walls and artwork by Adam Brouillette. Guests order at the counter or by using the QR code on their table.
Regulars at Preston’s will recognize all the old favorites and a couple of new additions: burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken tenders/nuggets/wings, sides like fries and mac & cheese, and their popular puddings.
The benefit of having their own location in Preston is their full license to offer beer, wine and cocktails to accompany their burgers and fried chicken.
Photos don’t do these justice, but here are some of the highlights! If it’s your first time, go to classic. You can order them with single or double empanadas. This showcases what Preston’s does best: simple but expertly constructed smashburgers. I still consider them the best in town.
But don’t sleep on the spicy beef. This might be my new favorite: hamburger patties, pimento cheese, shaved onion, house pickles, and a sweet and spicy sambal jam.
Theirs fried chicken sandwiches it should not be ignored either. They are crispy and well seasoned. There’s the standard chicken sandwich and the dipped chicken or chicken mala versions.
There are plenty of vegetarian options (and gluten-free pastas!) available at Preston’s, and they don’t shy away from portions or flavors. The crunch lion’s mane mushroom sandwich it’s loaded with pickled onions and shredded cabbage. They also include fried mushroom nuggets!
And there are easy sides to love like cheese fries and those often elusive fried pimento cheese balls.
Theirs tender fried chicken nuggets they are also a great thing. They are tender, juicy and wonderfully seasoned. One of the unsung heroes at Preston’s.
Preston’s is currently open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday from 4 to 7:30 p.m
