Peanuts mixed with fresh lime juice, a few dashes of spicy sriracha, and fresh ginger root scream Thai flavor. Peanut Thai dressing is perfect for salads and stir-fries, and I even add it to my baked potatoes or as a sauce on sandwiches.
Peanut Thai dressing ingredient
- Homemade Peanut Butter: Homemade peanut butter is made by grinding peanuts in a food processor until they become peanut butter.
- Lemon Syrup: Lime juice gives the dressing a fresh citrus flavor.
- Rice Vinegar: Rice vinegar adds acidity as well as sweetness.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce: I used low-sodium soy sauce because peanut butter already contains sodium.
- Pure Maple Syrup: Maple syrup is a natural way to add sweetness without adding sugar.
- Fresh Ginger Root: Fresh ginger root is delicious, spicy, and sweet, and while ginger retains some of that peppery spice and sweetness, its flavor is much milder. If you look for high-quality ground ginger, you may find the flavor more intense and reminiscent of fresh.
- Red Chilli Flakes (Optional): Red pepper flakes add a little zing to the sauce. However, if you don’t like spicy, skip it.
- Water: Water thins the dressing.
Replace the peanut Thai dressing ingredient
- Instead of peanut butter, use almond butter (or preferred peanut butter) or 4 tablespoons of PBfit peanut butter powder..
- Or, choose any creamy peanut butter brand you like.
- If using jarred peanut butter with added sugar, do not use maple syrup; The peanut sauce will be too sweet.
- If you don’t have fresh limes, try bottled lime juice.
- Champagne vinegar is often used in place of rice vinegar.
- For a gluten-free alternative, use tamari or liquid aminos instead of low-sodium soy sauce.
- A pinch of red pepper substitutes red pepper flakes in this peanut sauce recipe.
