Ingredients for baked chicken breast

Chicken breast – This recipe is for boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 170g each. They are very lean, I add some olive oil to help them brown better on the outside and for the spices to stick better.

chicken breast can vary in size from 5 oz to 10 oz This means the cooking time may vary. In this recipe I use medium sized boneless breasts (about 170 grams).

Spices – I prefer to save a chicken marinade for the grill and use simple seasonings for baked chicken breasts.

The mix below is easy and versatile, but switch up the flavor and add onion powder, chilli powder, garlic powder, or even some brown sugar if you like. You can also try taco seasoning, Cajun seasoning, or your favorite spice mix.

How to make baked chicken breasts

Preparing juicy chicken breasts is very simple, the key is in the preparation cooking time and temperature.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Mix chicken breast with olive oil, herbs and spices (according to the recipe below).
  3. Lightly grease a casserole dish or pan to prevent the chicken breasts from sticking.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in the oven and bake for about 22-26 minutes.

How long to bake chicken breasts?

The key to a perfectly baked chicken breast is temperature and timing. Chicken breasts are naturally lean. So if you cook them too long, they will become dry. Cooking chicken at a higher temperature seals the juices.

  • To bake chicken breasts at 400°F: Depending on the size of the chicken breasts, this will take between 22 and 26 minutes.
  • You can Cook chicken breasts at 350°F for about 25-30 minutes (although I prefer the higher heat above).

The chicken breast should be approx Internal temperature of 165°F.

  • Avoid overcooking: Keep chicken juicy by not overcooking. A meat thermometer is recommended for best results.
  • Remove chicken from oven at 160-162°F. While resting on the pan, it will reach a temperature of 165°F.
  • Chicken breasts vary in thickness. Pound lightly with the flat side of a meat mallet (or even a rolling pin).
