Our 10 best new recipes of 2022 – Leite’s Culinaria

The results are in. Behold ours The 10 most popular and shared new recipes of 2022. It’s no surprise to us that it’s filled with comfort food, including soup, pasta, beans, stew and a dreamy icebox cake.

Oh, you clever, clever cooks! In a year of unprecedented inflation and skyrocketing food prices, you haven’t let that get you down. Instead, they’ve resorted to pasta, grains, and legumes to make ends meet with class and flavor. And when I checked the numbers, some of the dishes you made this year cost less than 60 cents a serving. Bravo!

When protein cravings took hold, cheap cuts of beef — especially chuck — as well as pork and chicken were snapped up. (And I’m delighted that one of our recipe testers, Mardi Michels,’s Creamy French Chicken Stew made it onto your top ten list.)

Though you were willing to cut corners this year, you didn’t want to skip dessert. In 2022, they turned to well-loved classics — tiramisu and icebox cake — that required pre-made ingredients, making them easier and, yes, less expensive.

And my Portuguese people! You made me proud by choosing to make your own chouriço sausage. It’s that kind of do-it-yourself attitude that has distinguished so many chefs over the past year.

I hope things turn around for all of us in 2023. But whatever happens, I know you have this.

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

A bowl of creamy pork and egg noodles

Creamy pork and egg noodles

For this easy meal, minced pork is stir-fried with some mushrooms before stirring in the broth and scraping out any savory bits. Cooking the noodles in this flavorful mixture ensures they are intensely flavorful from the inside out. At the very end, Boursin cheese is added, which gives the typical creaminess and complex herbal flavor from one ingredient.

Recipe

These pork egg noodles were delicious and so easy and quick! I love the boursin for a creamy sauce. Everyone devoured that. Luckily there was just enough left for my lunch tomorrow.

A woman's hand stacks superfood breakfast cookies

Superfood Breakfast Cookies

For this recipe, I use gluten-free rolled oats, superfood ingredients like chia seeds and flaxseed flour, and bananas, peanut butter, chocolate chips, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and maple syrup as natural sweeteners. These cookies are super easy to make and can be enjoyed for breakfast, as a snack, or for dessert!

Recipe

I made these breakfast cookies this weekend and they are great. I followed the recipe except I added some dried blueberries, raisins, and toasted chopped walnuts and made them smaller – probably between 1 and 2 tablespoons.

I wanted to use them as a mid-morning snack at work. I have frozen them and take out one each day to put in my lunch bag. What I had for tea today was perfect!

This version of blanquette is a bit simplified in that it doesn’t require the preparation of a roux, but it’s no less flavorful. Serve with cooked rice and garnish with fresh thyme leaves and parsley. This gives you a simple, beneficial meal that is quick to prepare, even during the week.

Recipe

Although it’s not winter yet, we made this creamy French chicken stew and really enjoyed it. Scheduled it so we can have it later in the week as planned rest. Perfect. As a change from my love for potatoes, I used rice.

A white bowl filled with cranberry beans with warm spices; a spoon next to it

Cranberry beans with warm spices

We sauté carrots in aromatic garlic oil along with tomato paste to add depth to the flavor. Just a hint of cinnamon adds a subtle sweet, warm spiciness. In addition to the broth, we cook the beans in white wine to give them the acidity. By cooking in the gentle heat of the oven, we ensure they are perfectly cooked without constant checking.
