While you’ll mostly find me in the morning with a smoothie in my glass, there are days when I start with a hot (or ice cold) glass of tea depending on the day. Today I’m sharing one of my favorites that’s super easy: it only uses 3 ingredients and takes no more than 5 minutes. My Orange Ginger Tea is delicious served both hot and over ice so you can enjoy it any time of the year!

- Black tea: Black tea is earthy, strong and slightly nutty in taste. It contains caffeine for energy and is loaded with antioxidants.
- Orange peel: Rich in calcium and provitamins, it gives an intense citrus flavor.
- Ginger: Chalk full of vitamins and nutrients, sweet and tangy taste, goes well with orange.
How to make Orange Ginger Tea

Start your orange ginger tea by peeling your orange and chopping your ginger into small pieces. You can also use a cheese grater and grate it or use some fresh ginger paste.

Then, in a large pitcher or teapot, add your tea bags.

Then add the ginger and orange peel pieces.

Then brew your tea by adding hot water.

Infuse according to your tea brand’s package directions and to your own taste. Then stir well to ensure all the flavors are evenly incorporated.

Then pour into a glass. On this special day I felt like having an iced tea, but this tea can be drunk hot or cold.

Serve with additional orange slices for garnish and flavor and enjoy your Orange Ginger Tea!
Simple Substitutions
- Don’t have any oranges? If you don’t have oranges, you can make a similar tea with lemon.
- sweeten it Personally, I drink my tea without sweeteners, but if it’s too bitter, try adding some honey or licorice root.
- Make an herbal tea out of it. If you don’t drink black or green tea, you can do so with an herbal fruit tea or chamomile and still reap the most benefits.

Bring water to a boil and place 8 tea bags in a large pitcher.

Meanwhile, carefully remove the peel from one orange. Be sure to avoid the bitter, white skin—you only want the bright orange peel. A small sharp knife or carrot peeler works well.

Place orange zest and grated ginger in a pitcher over the tea bags.
