Macro-Friendly Summary of the Super Bowl – Lillie Eats and Tells

Super Bowl Sunday is upon us! do you go to any parties Even host? Whatever you do, Sunday is all about the food. I respect the traditional chips and dips and indulgent snack spread… BUT. Above all, I just want to be able to participate in the noshing, like all the time! WITHOUT feeling TERRIBLE. It can be done!

I’ve been trawling through my recipes to find some good, healthy (even macro-friendly), and DELICIOUS Super Bowl recipes. I hope you’re hungry.

Summary of the macro-friendly Super Bowl: buffalo

Obviously hot buffalo screams football, right? Buffalo wings, buffalo dip, buffalo sauce… I’m an absolute fan! I’ve been on a big buffalo tuna kick for lunch lately — but I’m not sure anyone serves tuna at a party. Even smother in buffalo sauce? Here are some of my other favorite macro-friendly buffalo recipes that I think you’ll enjoy during the big game.

Easy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

First: a toasted bun stuffed with creamy buffalo chicken and fresh, crispy coleslaw. When everyone is ready to eat, grill a tray of buns and toss them in a basket next to a pot of chicken and a bowl of coleslaw. EASY for guests. And so delicious! It’s easy to have as a meal or use small buns for sliders so they can eat ALL other things too.

Skinny Buffalo Turkey Meatball Subs

Make the meatballs ahead of time, toss them in buffalo sauce on game day, and you almost have this delicious, unpretentious little number. Toast the brioche hot dog buns and toss your slaw. Another winner! So light and macro friendly, but NO ONE KNEW IT. It’s really wild.

You can always skip the rolls and make these lean buffalo turkey meatballs yourself to serve as finger food too. Drizzle with some ranch, serve with celery and your’e SET.

Summary of the macro-friendly Super Bowl: sandwiches and burgers

I don’t think it’s possible to have football without a juicy sandwich or burger with toppings. In fact, I have a whole section of my blog dedicated to sandwiches and burgers. Here are two of my FAVORITES. Again, you can make them the main course, or make them sliders as part of a large selection. So you can eat the whole spread. Yes, please.

MY FAVORITE BURGER EVER

This turkey burger with figs and blue cheese might not be as red and juicy as beef, but it’s so full of flavor! I think some people are scared of ground turkey because once you’ve done ground turkey wrong and can’t get the taste of twice-cooked deli meat out of your head, it’s hard to come back. But I hope so! There’s a reason I called it my favorite burger of all time. You don’t even have to worry about fat with this burger because it’s a fraction of a traditional beef burger. Even Ross, who orders a burger 75% of our dates, is obsessed with those fig burgers.

Lighter BBQ pulled pork sandwich with cilantro and lime lettuce

These BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches are such an easy crowd pleaser and PERFECT when you’re hosting. Everyone can build their comforting, juicy sandwich with this zesty cilantro lime slaw. If you’re a high achiever, have the meat also serve as a topping for a large sheet pan of BBQ pulled pork nachos. Toss them in your oven or on top of your smoker to melt the cheese and crisp up the pork. Bring them in and stack whatever guac, coleslaw, or pico you have laying around!

That’s it, I’m coming over.

macro friendly Super Bowl Recap: Dips

Dips are a must at every Super Bowl party. In my opinion they are the superstar among spreads. Something to hark back to all day while cheering on your favorite team to bring home the win. Or when you find that you don’t care who wins because you’re only here for the food.

Here are some of my favorite light and easy, macro-friendly dips.

Summary of the macro-friendly Super Bowl: salads

Salads may not be the most traditional dish of Super Bowl celebrations, but they’re a great way to add some greenery and feed a crowd. And maybe make up for the rest of the food that might be there haha. If you’ve been here a minute you know I LOVE a good salad. Here are a few salads that would be great for feeding a crowd.

Quick and easy cucumber and chicken salad

This Quick and Easy Cucumber Chicken Salad is easily the tastiest chicken salad you will ever have! Ha. That’s brave. But it’s my favorite. Maybe you have to love pickles and mustard. But I’m not even sure you do! This is probably one of my most popular recipes ever. You can serve it alongside a bowl of toasted croissants to build sandwiches or just surrounded by crackers or pita chips like a dip. Perhaps offer a stack of buttered lettuce leaves for small lettuce wraps! THE EASIEST way to get lots of lean protein on Sunday.
