Notes on ingredients

  • Ham– For this instant ham recipe, you can use a boned or boneless ham. We prefer boneless ham as it’s easier to carve than regular bone-in ham but still adds extra flavor and the leftover bone is great for making pea soup.
  • canned peaches– Feel free to substitute the glaze for another type of preserve. Apricot jam would work well.
  • Mustard–You can use your favorite strong mustard here, e.g. B. Creole or whole grain mustard. The addition of mustard gives the glaze a tangy note, important to balance the flavors of the salty ham and sweet jam.
  • Ginger ale– The bite of ginger beer gives the ham a distinct flavor, but regular ginger ale works well too. Don’t substitute diet ginger ale.

How to make this recipe

  1. Score the top and sides of the ham in a diamond pattern.
  2. Mix the jam, mustard and spices in a small bowl.

  2. Pour the ginger beer into the Instant Pot using the coaster.

  1. Place the ham on the trivet in the instant pot.
  2. Close the lid and cook on low pressure for 15 minutes. Release the pressure naturally for 3 minutes, then quickly release the remaining pressure. Use the trivet to lift the ham out of the pot and place the ham on a baking sheet. Spread the remaining glaze over the ham.

  1. Cook the ham until the glaze is golden and bubbling. Leave to rest for 15 minutes. Cook the cooking liquid in the Instant Pot until reduced by half, then pour in the preserves, bourbon, and lemon juice.
  2. Whisk until combined.
  3. Carve the ham. Serve with the bourbon jus, if using.

The general rule of thumb for a boneless ham is 3 minutes per pound on low pressure or 2 minutes per pound on high pressure. If you use a boneless ham, you can shave a few minutes off the cooking time.

Instant Pot Ham with Ginger Peach Glaze

This Ginger Peach Glazed Ham is so delicious with its sweet and savory flavors. Save yourself some oven space (and a lot of time) and make this in your Instant Pot.

For the bourbon jus (optional)

Make the glazed ham

  • Use a sharp, heavy knife to score the top and sides of the ham in a diamond pattern. Make diagonal cuts about 2cm deep and about 4cm apart.

  • In a medium bowl, stir together 3/4 cup canned food, Creole mustard, mustard powder, ground ginger, and pepper. Spread half of the glaze over the top and sides of the ham. Save the rest of the glaze.
  • Pour the ginger beer into the pot of the Instant Pot or pressure cooker. Place the ham on the trivet, cover and cook on low pressure for 15 minutes. Leave for 3 minutes to release naturally, then quickly release any remaining pressure.

  • Lift the trivet out of the pot and place the ham in a large ovenproof skillet or rimmed baking sheet. Leave the cooking liquid in the pot. Spread the reserved glaze over the ham.

  • Position an oven rack so the top of the ham is about 5 inches from the heat source. Preheat grill.

  • Grill the ham until the glaze is bubbling and browned and the diamond pattern opens and becomes crisp on the edges, 6 to 8 minutes. Let stand at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Make the bourbon jus (optional)

  • Using the sauté function of your pressure cooker or multi-cooker, simmer the cooking liquid until reduced by half, 6 to 10 minutes. Stir in jam, bourbon, and lemon juice. Simmer for about 3 minutes until warmed through.

  • Serve the sliced ​​ham with the jus, if using.
