Immune Boosting Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Cubes - made with just 3 ingredients, these cubes are perfect to prep and have on hand for a healthy morning antioxidant boost!

We’re officially in the middle of winter, which means most of us are vitamin D deficient and spending too much time indoors. These immune-boosting shots are my favorite way to add some sunshine to my day when I can’t have the real thing.

Blended with fresh ginger, turmeric, and lemon juice, they’re like a shot of bright and tangy goodness. They will definitely make you make some funny faces when you drink them, ha! But I promise you, your body will thank you.

The best part is that you don’t even need a juicer to make them. Just a blender and a fine mesh strainer and you’re good to go.

Feel-good ingredients

  • fresh ginger Fresh ginger is good for digestion and contains compounds that can help your body fight off bacteria and viruses. Using fresh, peeled ginger is key here. I don’t recommend substituting anything from a tube or jar, especially ground ginger.
  • fresh turmeric The most active compound in turmeric, curcumin is a powerful antioxidant that has many health benefits, including fighting free radicals. Just like with ginger, be sure to use freshly peeled turmeric, not ground turmeric powder. It can be difficult to find, but most local health food stores carry it.
  • lemon juice Packed with vitamin C and citric acid, lemon juice can support immune system health and also help prevent kidney stones. The bright citrus flavor pairs perfectly with spicy ginger and earthy turmeric.

Easy to do

It’s as simple as mixing all three ingredients in a blender, then straining and pouring into an ice cube tray. I used my Vitamix as I know it can handle breaking up tough bits of fresh ginger and turmeric, but a NutriBullet should also be tough enough to get the job done.

Once the cubes are frozen, simply add them to a cup of water and let them melt to form a delicious, fizzy and healthy drink!

These cubes definitely make winter more bearable. I hope you get a chance to try them!
