Toast with honey, fig jam and cottage cheese is the perfect snack for a lazy day. Toasted sourdough bread is topped with cottage cheese and fig jam, a dash of honey and a sprinkling of toasted, chopped walnuts. Makes 1 serving but can easily be doubled to serve more.
I love a good toast snack at lunchtime.
A classic peanut butter with honey or raspberry jam, hummus toast, avocado toast, whipped feta with marinated tomatoes—the list goes on. However, this cottage cheese toast situation is my newest obsession. It starts with toasted, premium sourdough bread, which is then topped with cottage cheese, sweet fig jam, and hot honey. To.Die.For.
There are several ways I do this. The toasting of the sourdough and topping with cottage cheese remain the same BUT I use either Jenkins Jellies Fiery Fig Jam – the most delicious flavorful fig jam ever (not sponsored) and cover with normal honey or (When I’m gone) I use regular fig jam and garnish it with hot honey. Either way, the tangy-sweet combination with the creamy cottage cheese and crunchy texture of the crusty bread is incredible.
To prepare honey-fig jam and cottage cheese toast you will need:
- Sour Dough Bread – Or use a solid bread of your choice.
- cottage cheese – I use Good Culture Low Fat 2% (not sponsored).
- FIG jam – Adds a touch of sweetness and delicious flavor.
- Honey – Use hot honey or regular honey.
- walnuts – Toast whole in a dry pan until fragrant, then roughly chop!
Why do you need a step-by-step post on this? I don’t know. But start by toasting whole walnuts in a dry pan until fragrant, then roughly chop and set aside. Next, toast your sourdough. One piece is enough for me, but I also made one by one.
After roasting, top with a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese and spread evenly.
Do the same with a few spoonfuls of fig jam.
Finally, drizzle with honey and top with chopped toasted walnuts.
Prepare to fall in love!
