Canadian fashion brand Grounded People (CNSX: SHOE) Announcing his new unisex Sao Paulo The collection is launched for customers across the United States and Canada.
“Our progress over the past year has been a step towards achieving our goals and becoming a leader in an ethical fashion”
Named in recognition of São Paulo, Brazil – the state where the shoes are made – the collection is made from recycled materials and features high-top and low-cut styles in black and khaki.
As part of the brand’s dedication to sustainability, the collection features shoes with extra-durable outsoles made from used car tires (black) or volcanic natural rubber (khaki) to provide improved comfort and traction. Grounded People says the shoes also offer all-metal D hooks for reliability when lacing up and 100% recycled cotton.
Prices start at US$219, and the shoes are backed by the brand’s “industry-breaking” five-year warranty program, which provides grounded customers with replacements in the event of manufacturing defects.

Breakthrough investment
In January, the company raised $2.5 million to expand its line of fair-wage, ethically made shoes. At the time, Grounded People called the fund a “significant breakthrough” investment.
The new São Paulo collection is available through the Grounded Peoples website. “We are extremely excited and proud to officially debut our São Paulo unisex shoes to our customers,” said Maximilian Justus, CEO of Grounded People.

He continued, “Our team has put in months of hard work and dedication from R&D and product design to production, so that the collection sets a new standard for customer expectations. We look forward to the reception and response to the shoe across Canada and the US in the coming months, as well as the European market we will be entering this year. Our progress over the past year has been a step towards achieving our goals and becoming a leader in an ethical fashion.”
