Grape Nut Ice Cream – Barefoot in the kitchen

Creamy-sweet vanilla ice cream filled with crunchy, nutty grape seeds? Yes, please! This grape nut ice cream was a hit with family and friends.

We’ve scooped it up in bowls, eaten it in ice cream cones, and melted it over a fruit chip, too. Honestly, it doesn’t matter how you serve it, it sure goes away fast.

Jamaican Grape Nut Ice Cream

This ice cream officially blew my mind. A few years ago, a reader asked me if I had a recipe for grape nut ice cream, and I submitted the request under “I should research that.” And then immediately forgotten.

Experimenting with granola and milk ice cream recently, this one came to mind and after a little research I learned that Grape Nut Ice Cream is a Jamaican ice cream that is essentially vanilla ice cream with the addition of crunchy, nutty grape seeds.

I couldn’t even imagine what this would taste like, but as always, I was willing to try it. Turns out grape nut ice cream is insanely good. Crunchy, nutty morsels of grapeseed granola are sprinkled in every bite of creamy, rich ice cream.

A friend tried it when I made it and said it reminds her of a cheesecake crust because it stays crunchy throughout the ice cream cone. While the granola will be softer (compared to the crunch that grape nuts have straight out of the box), the finished ice cream has a decidedly firm crunch.
