
There’s always a lot going on in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- Owner Craig O’Herron announced last week that Sideswipe Brewing would close on July 30. He said the brewery, located at 2419 Scioto Harper Dr., would celebrate with a closing party on July 22. O’Herron also shared on social media that a new brewer has bought the space and will be opening a new brewery there. (Check out Sideswipe, along with a couple of other Columbus breweries, in this 2016 post on the Columbus Ale Trail.)
- Gahanna’s Marlow’s Cheesesteaks is the latest business to appear in The Hatch incubator space in the Budd Dairy Food Hall. They will open on Tuesday, July 11 at 4 p.m
- Last week he opened a second restaurant in the new downtown Junto Hotel, Maudine’s. Maudine’s, named after the Holstein cow that was voted Ohio State’s homecoming queen in 1926, Maudine’s is an all-day cafe and coffee shop, serving One Line Coffee for espresso drinks, brewed coffee, cold brew, plus pastries and breakfast sandwiches.
- On Thursday, July 20, you can join Columbus Food Adventures for a culinary tour of Africa at Riziki Swahili Grill. Owner Riziki Yussuf will serve dishes from various African countries. Get tickets for the five-course dinner through the Columbus Food Adventures site by looking for July 20 on their calendar on the front page.
- Business First reported that Connecticut-based Mecha Noodle Bar will replace the Short North White Castle location at 965 N. High St.
- This Sunday, July 9, Chef Laura Pipia is hosting another SoHud Squirrels pop-up on Summit Street, south of Hudson. It will serve a variety of baked goods from 9 a.m. until noon (or sell out). Check out @doctorwhich on Instagram for more details.
- In case you missed it, 17 Arrows Craft Kitchen & Bar has opened in the Hilton’s Polaris location. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and emphasizes Ohio ingredients when possible.
- Gallo’s Restaurant Group announced it will add a new concept, Gallo’s Pizza Cucina & Bar, at 5851 Frantz Rd. in Dublin The concept grew out of his pizzeria in North Market Bridge Park.
