Friday Food Bites: High on Brunch pop-up kicks off, Shibam Coffee debuts

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • A new weekly brunch pop-up called High on Brunch kicks off this Sunday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to at Antiques on High. Created by chef Lara Pipia, the event features dishes like focaccia sandwiches, sweet and savory rice bowls, salads, donuts, a kid’s menu, and more.
  • A new Yemeni coffee shop called Shibam Coffee opened recently at 8310 Sancus Blvd. near Polaris. Similar to Qamaria and Qahwah House, the Yemeni coffee shop chain is based out of eastern Michigan and features traditional coffees and snacks.
  • Maison Skalli teased on social media that they are expanding to a second location. The Moroccan bakery and brunch cafe opened last April at 2746 Festival Lane in Dublin. They haven’t released any specific details about the second location yet.
  • ZenCha Tea Salon in the Short North is under new ownership and is now called ZC Tea House. It recently soft opened while the new owners are revamping menus and other offerings, including cocktails and small plates. The cafe is located at 982 N. High St.
  • Yesterday Columbus’ own Royal Flamingo Coffee just took home a pair of bronze medals from the Golden Bean Americas competition in Guatemala for their filter coffee and their espresso with milk!
  • In case you missed the recent news, Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll, Ohio has purchased Homestead Beer Co. and Heart State Brewing. Homestead and Heart State had been combined in a Gahanna taproom, which recently became Noble Cut Distillery’s new bar. Homestead’s kitchen and taproom in Canal Winchester remains open.
  • A new central Ohio location of Teriyaki Madness soft opened this week at 7105 N. High St. Suite 110 in Worthington.
