Advantages of making your own
Another advantage of making your own frozen coffee drinks is the lower price.
A single Starbucks Frappuccino can cost as much as $5.95. While Grande and Tall drinks cost 50 cents to a dollar less, that can add up quite quickly if you order them every week.
Add a pump of syrup and the price goes up even more.
Depending on the type of milk and sweetener you choose, this DIY frappuccino can make more than seven drinks for only about three dollars total.
So why not save money and skip the coffee shop version? Make your own healthy frappuccinos at home, and you don’t even have to leave your pajamas!

Ingredients for a healthy coffee frappuccino recipe
To prepare the easy coffee recipe, you will need your choice of milk, regular or decaffeinated instant coffee, pure vanilla extract, your choice of sweetener, and a pinch of salt.
No brewed espresso or cream is required. And the iced coffee drink can be dairy-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, keto-friendly, and vegan.
For a vegan frappuccino, just choose a non-dairy milk. Almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, and oat milk are all good options.
Use your favorite all-purpose sweetener. This includes granulated sweeteners like white or brown sugar, or unrefined sweeteners like coconut sugar or date sugar. You can also use a liquid sweetener like honey, agave syrup, or pure maple syrup.
If you prefer a no-sugar keto frappuccino, opt for low-carb options like xylitol, erythritol, allulose, or a monk fruit blend. Or add stevia extract to taste.
Be sure to buy pure vanilla extract, not an imitation vanilla flavor. This will make a world of difference in your finished recipe.

How to Make a Copycat Starbucks Frappuccino
Read the recipe instructions, then assemble all the ingredients.
Mix together the milk of your choice, coffee granules, vanilla, sweetener and salt.
Freeze the liquid mixture in a shallow container or ice cube tray.
This step can be done days or even weeks in advance, allowing you to have an almost instant coffee beverage whenever you feel like it.
Once the coffee ice cubes are frozen, put them in a blender.
Thaw blocks just enough for your blender to process. If you have a powerful, high-speed blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec, you may be able to skip the thawing step.
The recipe also works with a cheaper blender or food processor. No special equipment is required to make your own frappuccinos.
Mix everything together until you get a thick and creamy Frappuccino texture.
Taste and add additional sweetener if needed. Do not add ice as this will dilute the intense coffee flavor.
Pour the frozen coffee frappé into a tall glass or two mason jars.
Top with whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate syrup, shredded graham crackers, or crumbled biscuits as you like.
With the blender off, prepare coconut ice cream
Secret Menu Frappuccino Flavors
Salted Caramel Frappuccino: Increase the amount of salt to just under an eighth of a teaspoon. Add a spoonful of caramel sauce from the jar or homemade coconut caramel to the basic recipe. Or add a strudel on top after blending.
Mocha Frappuccino: Add three tablespoons of cocoa powder to the base recipe before blending. For a double chocolate frappuccino, top with grated chocolate.
Java Chip Frappuccino: Make the recipe below as directed and mix in a tablespoon or two of regular, mini, or sugar-free chocolate chips.
Vanilla Bean Frappuccino: This is made without coffee or caffeine. Make the recipe below and omit the instant coffee. Instead of half a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, add a teaspoon of vanilla bean paste or the seeds of one vanilla bean.
Pumpkin Frappuccino: Mix together 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon each pumpkin pie spice and ground ginger, and optionally a pinch of ground cloves. Top with coconut whipped cream.
Peanut Butter Frappuccino: This one is easy. Simply mix a tablespoon or two of peanut butter (or almond butter) into your coffee beverage.
The next menu secret flavors on my list include Oreo, white chocolate, chai tea, strawberry cream, mint or peppermint, matcha, butterbeer, chocolate hazelnut, toffee nut, birthday cake batter, and unicorn frappuccinos.

Serving suggestions for your coffee drink
The best part about the recipe is that you can serve it for breakfast instead of hot coffee, as part of a healthy afternoon snack, or as a delicious dessert.
The coffee frappuccino copycat pairs perfectly with healthy banana bread, or a thick slice of chocolate banana bread, or this low-carb almond flour banana bread.
If you’re not a fan of bananas, the drinks also go great with other baked goods like scones, blondies, brownies, donuts, cookies or applesauce muffins.
Or turn it into a meal and serve with vegan French toast or heart-healthy oatmeal for a high-energy breakfast, or a grilled veggie wrap, sandwich, or avocado salad for lunch.

- 2 cups milk of your choice
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 tsp regular or decaffeinated instant coffee
- 1/16 tsp Salt
- 3 – 4 tbsp sweetener of your choice
-
Whisk together ingredients. Freeze in shallow containers or an ice cube tray (I used this ice cube tray). Once the blocks are frozen, pop them out. Thaw until just soft enough for your blender to process. Mix until desired consistency is achieved. Add extra sweetener if needed, but not ice as it will dilute the flavor. Feel free to add cocoa, cinnamon, berries, chai, banana or other flavorings if you like. (See the post above for more flavor ideas.)
