Tips and tricks for easy vegan pancakes

Flipping the pancakes.
It can be tricky to know when it’s time to flip vegan pancakes while they’re cooking. Watch for the constant bubbling to let you know they are ready. Once the vegan pancakes start to bubble, it’s time to flip them over and cook the other side. Don’t worry, it takes practice!
Some things that help are…
- Use a non-stick cooking spray for your pan. We like Trader Joe’s Coconut cooking spray, but any will do the trick!
- Using a frying pan or non-stick pan. If you don’t already have one, here are some that we particularly like! All-Clad 12-inch pan and Calphalon 2-piece pan set.
- Using a good quality spatula is also essential. Look for something that’s safe to use with a lot of heat and is a good, durable material, like this OXO Good Grip Spatula.
- Don’t overcrowd your vegan pancakes. If the pan isn’t big enough to easily accommodate two, don’t pour two. It can be difficult to flip if the two vegan pancakes stick together.
Make sure your baking powder is fresh.
Baking powder is responsible for giving vegan pancakes that soft, fluffy texture. It is important that you measure it accurately and make sure it is fresh.
Too much or too little yeast will affect the panels and how they turn out. If the baking powder is stale or too old, the pancakes won’t have the texture you’re after. Yeast powder usually stays fresh for 18-24 months.
Perfect for preparing meals.
These vegan pancakes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-5 days. They can also be frozen for 3-4 months. These vegan pancakes are perfect for meal prep!
