This pumpkin dump cake recipe is bursting with fall flavor! It’s probably one of the easiest desserts you’ll ever make. No seriously.

It has a creamy pumpkin bottom layer and is topped with dry cake mix, chopped pecans, and some melted butter to make it even more delicious. 🙂 Bake and done! It’s fantastic served with whipped cream or ice cream.

What is a dump cake?

Don’t be put off by the name! So what actually is a dump cake? It’s an extremely delicious cake that’s based on some sort of filling, then topped with a dry cake mix, drizzled with butter, and baked.

How do you make a pumpkin dump cake?

It is so easy! Let me give you a quick rundown of the steps – the full recipe is below.

Step 1: Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan

Preheat your oven to 350º F. Spray a 9×13 dish with cooking spray.

Step 2: Make the pumpkin mixture

Combine pure pumpkin, condensed milk, eggs, sugar, salt and cinnamon. Pour this treat into the sprinkled bowl.

Step 3: Spread the pumpkin mixture on top

Scatter the cake mix on top and some chopped pecans. Top with melted butter.

Step 4: Bake

Off in the oven – and in 50 minutes you have a great dessert!

Step 5: EAT!

Top with whipped cream or ice cream and devour!

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray.

  • Combine pumpkin puree, condensed milk, eggs, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Pour the pumpkin mixture into the prepared casserole dish.

  • Scatter the dry cake mix over the pumpkin mixture in the pan. Top with pecans.

  • Pour melted butter over the pecans. Don’t stir. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes.

  • Top with whipped cream or ice cream as you like and ENJOY!
