peach crust
Nothing says summer like fresh, juicy peaches. And the best treat to whip up with fresh peaches is this no-fuss Peach Crisp! Is there anything better than a simple dish of roasted peaches and a crunchy butter topping?! nope It’s perfection in every bite. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate peachy summer treat!
What is a peach chip?
For me, crispy is the ultimate among fruit desserts. Cakes, galettes, cobblers… I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like those too, but there’s something about the simplicity of fruit and a buttery, deliciously crunchy topping that just feels right in summer. The warm, tender peaches combine with the buttery oat crunch for what can only be described (to me, at least) as a beautiful symphony for your taste buds. I know it was really dramatic, but I mean it. Music for your taste buds.

Chips are so great because the fruit really takes center stage. But it also means you have to be careful to use fresh, ripe, and juicy peaches, as nothing else will mask the flavor. This is how you can tell if your peaches are ripe
If you’re not a regular peach eater, you might be walking into the grocery aisle of your grocery store and wondering how to tell which peaches are ripe to eat. Luckily, there are a few different tricks you can use to ensure you’re getting your hands on the freshest, juiciest, and most flavorful peaches to bake into this peach chip:
- Odor: This is my favorite way to tell if peaches are ripe. Smell your peach and see if it smells sweet and…well, peachy! If it has that fragrant peach aroma, it’s probably ripe!
- softness: A ripe peach will give slightly if gently tapped. An unripe peach will be quite firm, and an overripe peach will feel mushy.
- Color: Ripe peaches are usually orange-red in color all over. If your peaches are turning a lot of green or yellow on the outside, they may not be ripe yet!
Like most fruits, peaches continue to ripen on your counter. So if you get some underripe fruit at the store, leave it on the counter for a few days and taste again to see if it’s ripe enough to bake!
Our tips for the perfect peach crisp
Peach chips are one of the easiest, no-fuss treats you can make this summer. But even simple desserts have secrets that make them delicious every time. Here are all the peach crisp tricks we have up our sleeves:
- Use high-quality, ripe peaches: The quality of your peaches will show through in the final product, so make sure you’re getting your hands on fresh, ripe peaches.
- Make a point of the crunchy topping: I know we’ve spent a lot of time talking about the peaches, but the buttery, oaty, sweet crunchy topping really is the icing on the cake. I like to use the crunchy topping quite heavily so there’s a delicious crunch in every bite!
- Serve it warm and à la mode (obviously): Ever had peach chips if you didn’t eat them hot out of the oven with a fat scoop of vanilla ice cream? I do not think so. For the ultimate treat, be sure to pick up a pint of ice cream to serve with your peach crisp. You can even make a juicy peach float with The Pacific Fruit Vineyard Bubbly Sweet Peach for the ultimate treat.
Happy peach season and happy baking my friends!

for the peaches:
- 8th To 9 ripe peaches, pitted
- 1/4 Cup Simply Nature organic brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Bakers’ Corner All Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
for the crispy topping:
- 1/2 Cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 Cup Simply Nature organic brown sugar, packaged
- 2/3 Cup Bakers’ Corner All Purpose Flour
- 2/3 Cup old-fashioned oats

instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F and grease a medium casserole dish generously with butter (we used an 11 x 7 oval pan, but a 9 x 9 or 10 inch skillet would be great too!).
- Core the peaches and cut into thin crescent shapes about ¼ inch thick. Place the peaches in the prepared bowl and sprinkle with brown sugar, flour and vanilla extract. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix. Once the peaches are evenly coated, gently spread them back into an even layer. Put aside.

- Sprinkle the crunchy topping over the peaches to evenly coat the top.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until peaches are blistered and crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm! Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate treat!
