WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED?
- A 28 oz can of pinto beans
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Pinch of salt/pepper
- 1/2 cup water
- Optional additions: fresh coriander, queso fresco
HOW DO I MAKE HOMEMADE FRIED BEANS?
STEP 1: Pour your beans into a small saucepan (with the liquid).
STEP 2: Stir in all remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce over low heat.
STEP 3: Mash the beans with a potato masher until you’ve crushed most of the beans and the mixture starts to thicken. Let simmer for another 10 minutes.
STEP 4: Take it from the stove and let it cool off. The beans will continue to thicken as they cool.
STEP 5: Garnish with fresh cilantro and queso fresco to serve.
