At Fir Foodie Finds, we’re always looking for new ways to simplify our favorite dishes without sacrificing quality. So when we tried grilling our shrimp, we realized how quick and easy it really was!
Not only is it an easy recipe, but the shrimp come out just as succulent as if you sautéed or grilled them. The only difference is how deliciously crunchy it is on the outside! Basically, it’s our new favorite way to cook shrimp.

Fried shrimp ingredients
- Shrimp: We strongly recommend purchasing high quality jumbo shrimp. This usually means you can find shrimp in the deli or frozen section that hasn’t been shelled. Target just got our favorite jumbo shrimp. You can find them in the freezer section.
- Olive oil: indispensable for marinating the shrimp with the Cajun seasoning.
- Cajun Spice: Our homemade Cajun Seasoning is bold, flavorful, and earthy. It’s the perfect condiment for fried shrimp!
DELICIOUS HONEY BUTTER SAUCE
These fresh shrimp taste amazing when dipped in our delicious Honey Butter Sauce. It’s the perfect amount of butter, tangy and sweet! All you need is the following:
- butter
- Honey
- Fresh Lemon Juice
- salt pepper

How to make fried shrimp
TURN GRILL ON
Set the oven to high heat and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
season shrimp
Next, pat the raw shrimp dry with kitchen paper and place in a mixing bowl. Toss the shrimp dry with olive oil and season with the Cajun seasoning. Then toss the shrimp with the seasoning until the shrimp are completely coated.
GRILLING
Transfer the shrimp to the lined baking sheet and Place in the oven for 4 minutes, turning the shrimp halfway after 2 minutes.
LET THE SHRIMP COOL
Once the shrimp are firm and pink, Remove from the oven and immediately transfer to a plate relax.
MAKE HONEY BUTTER SAUCE
While the shrimp are resting Whisk together the butter, honey, lemon juice, salt and pepper together to combined.
SERVE + ENJOY
Serve the shrimp with the butter mixture or serve the shrimp over pasta or rice. Enjoy!

Top tips for frying shrimp
We tested this recipe with both large and king prawns. Feel free to use any size shrimp you can find. Just be careful how much seasoning you make and use based on the size of the shrimp you use.
Keep an eye on your shrimp while they’re grilling! Cooking should take 3 to 5 minutes, but the time will depend on the size of your shrimp. When the raw shrimp curl, you know they’re done.
Remember to turn your shrimp halfway through cooking. Some broilers may be uneven so the shrimp will brown evenly.
