Why we love this homemade lip scrub

Making your own DIY lip scrub couldn’t be easier! This recipe takes less than 5 minutes to put together and makes a wonderful holiday or party favor!

It’s also so important to exfoliate your lips – a step many of us forget! Like the rest of our body, our lips accumulate dead skin cells and dry skin which can lead to chapped lips and also black heads around our lips.

This natural lip scrub is safe to use with ingredients like sugar, coconut oil and essential oils that leave your lips feeling smooth and luscious. Trust me, if you haven’t tried a lip scrub, once you’ve done it, you won’t go back!

Ingredients for a DIY lip scrub

Sugar – I prefer to use regular white sugar (sugar cane) in this recipe as it’s a bit less pungent, but brown sugar or even coconut sugar works great too.

coconut oil – All you need is a tablespoon of coconut oil. This helps add moisture to your lip scrub, but also creates the texture to easily apply to your lips. You could try a different oil like olive oil or jojoba oil, but I haven’t tested it myself.

Volatile oil – I like to use 1-2 drops of lavender oil purely for fragrance purposes, but feel free to use any essential oil you prefer (peppermint oil and various citrus oils would be great)

vitamin E – This is entirely optional, but Vitamin E helps extend the shelf life of this dry lip sugar scrub and is also a great source of hydration and healing for your lips.
