Dairy is the alternative leader Daiya announced its new product innovation, Chikon Style Shades, which the brand is bringing to its new signature pizzas and flatbreads.

The flakes, made from peas, oats and rice, are said to be an allergen-friendly product that meets the current demand for good plant-based chicken alternatives. Paired with Dyer’s pizzas and flatbreads, the slices offer an easy and convenient frozen meal option.
Now available at Walmart, consumers can enjoy sleek style shades on the following products:
- Daiya BBQ plant-based lean style thin crust pizza – Diyar gluten-free thin crust chicken style slices, layered with smoky barbecue sauce, tomato, red onion and melted mozzarella slices
- Daiya plant-based chicken, smoked bacon and ranch-style flatbread – Pulled into pieces.
The company says “extensive” research and development went into creating the slime pores, which are free of the top eight allergens. During sampling at Natural Products Expo West, Daiya reported that it received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, who praised the shades as a delicious and groundbreaking product.
Cheese investment
In addition to plant-based chicken, Daiya also revealed that it is developing a more realistic vegan cheese. Earlier this month, the company said it invested multi-million dollars in natural fermentation technology to make plant-based cheeses that resemble dairy products.
Daiya said the investment, which it expects will have products available by the end of 2023, is one of the largest investments it has ever made in the plant-based cheese segment.
