We love our crustless maker
Here we go again! If you read my most recent post, you’ll know that we love our embed maker.
Last time I shared our Crustless Chocolate Almond Butter. The trick to making this recipe is to use this delicious pasta.
Today, I’m sharing another homemade no-crust favorite. Here’s our easy recipe for making crustless honey peanut butter.

Why Make Homemade Peanut Butter and Crustless Honey?
We like to make our own embeddables for many reasons.
- First, it reduces plastic packaging and waste.
- Second, I use healthier ingredients.
- Third, it saves a lot of money.
- Fourth, it gives my young children the opportunity to be independent and make their own meal.
For all these reasons, we have used our crustless machine many times!

How does this recipe differ from the store-bought version?
To be honest, there’s not much to a crustless honey peanut butter. It’s just 3 ingredients: peanut butter, honey and bread.
However, making your own crustless honey peanut butter allows you to choose the ingredients you use.
For example, take a look at store-bought ingredients without a crust. You will see added sugar in peanut butter. Also, sugar is the first ingredient in “honey spread”.
Making this recipe at home, we can use a peanut butter that does not include added sugar. In addition, we use real honey without processed sugar.
So, in short, there aren’t huge differences between a homemade version and a store-bought version. Although these are simple swaps, they help us eat a little healthier!

Tips for making crustless peanut butter and honey
Since I’ve already shared a few tips, feel free to skip over to my no-chocolate crust post. I’ll leave you with all the details there.
But here’s the quick summary:
- Use a good non-rind machine.
- Use soft bread.
- Keep the filling in the middle of the bread.
- Don’t overdo it with too much filling.
Find a manufacturer without crust
There are many non-crust makers on Amazon. It took me a while to find one that I love.
This is the one I use. And I think it works great!
The one I have makes the classic Smucker’s Uncrustables rim shape. Some of the other sandwich sealers end up giving the sandwich a wavy edge.

What to do with leftover bread crust?
Several people have asked us what we do with bread crust when making homemade crusts. What a great question!
The quick answer is: we don’t waste them!
Here are some ways to use bread crusts.
Make croutons
Most often, I take bread crusts and make them into simple croutons. Kids love these croutons as a snack or with dinner.
This is what I do. It’s super easy.
I fry the crusts in olive oil and sprinkle some spices on them. The kids love it when I use some combination of the following:
Instead of olive oil, butter works great too.
If you cut the crusts into long strips, these croutons work great for dipping in hummus.
Breadcrumbs
It’s also easy to make some breadcrumbs. Then I use the breadcrumbs for dinner.
To make breadcrumbs, put the crust in the toaster oven slightly on low heat. Then pulse the crusts in a food processor or blender. Or just for some breadcrumbs, mash with a fork.
eat them
Simple. If I’m just making a sandwich, I just eat the crusts for breakfast.
Sometimes I feel like 2 whole slices of bread is too much for a small child. So this gives them a good slice of bread.
Whatever we do, we don’t waste the bark.
