If the size of your air fryer allows, you can store your bacon in the meantime. You can fold it over itself a bit, but we don’t recommend stacking the bacon.
Does your bacon smoke?
Through lots of testing of this recipe, we have found that the main cause of bacon smoking is that your air fryer is set too hot. We started out at 400ºF and that was way too hot causing the bacon to smoke.
So make sure you preheat your air fryer no hotter than 350ºF to avoid smoking.
A quick tip: Always remember to wipe off excess fat from the bottom of your air fryer after each round of cooking.

Air fryer bacon tips
Thickness matters: This applies to cooking bacon any method, the thinner the bacon the faster it will cook. Below are our cooking times at 350ºF.
- Thick: 9-10 minutes
- Middle: 8 minutes
- Thin: 6-7 minutes
Drain excess fat: If you plan on making more than one batch of bacon, be sure to drain any excess fat that drips onto the bottom of your pan. This helps prevent smoking.
Flip: To ensure even cooking, be sure to turn the bacon halfway through cooking.
No overlap: Try not to overlap the bacon as much as possible so it can cook as evenly as possible. They shrink as they bake.
Do not go: When in doubt, don’t walk away! All air fryers are different, as is the thickness of the bacon. Until you’ve made a batch of air fryer bacon with your special bacon, we recommend sticking around and using your nose in case you end up cooking too much.
