Copycat recipe for Disneyland french fries

This is fabulous Cajun tartar sauce dipping sauce is powerfully aromatic, wonderfully creamy with a light lemon flavor and the best sauce for dipping these spicy and salty dishes Disneyland Copycat French Fries (French fries)!

The Cajun tartar sauce

We started making this gravy because I’m obsessed with french fries (oh my gosh I can’t even write it without making my mouth water!!!!) and gravy at Disneyland. literally best fries and gravy always. My goodness!!!

After a few years of manufacture sauces from scratch, I decided to take a shortcut here. Everyone says this sauce is like a thousand islands dressing, but there’s more to it than that. So I use a few thousand islands, which is easier than opening tomato paste, and then add an extra dimension to the whole thing. Boom…this new recipe was born!

What is a remoulade?

A remoulade, plain and simple, is a mayonnaise-based cold sauce. It just sounds a lot fancier than french fries dip, doesn’t it?!

What are french fries?

French fries is just a chic and fun way to say french fries. When I say I just ate my weight in french fries, that sounds way better than french fries. Ha!

The homemade french fries

We have done homemade french fries forever, but we’re finally adding the recipe here! It is so easy!

Have you ever eaten French fries at Cafe Orleans at Disneyland? Please tell me you did it! Hot salty fries are my happiest place on earth. Give me an irresistible sauce to dip them in and you can forget it!

We double fry the fries and then top them Parmesan, garlic (fresh), fresh parsley, salt and some Cajun seasoning.

What ingredients are needed for french fries sauce?

You’re just a few ingredients away best dipping sauce for french fries. Trust me friends, you’ll never want to dip these golden brown fries in anything else! Here is your ingredient list:

  • mayonnaise
  • Thousand Iceland Dressing
  • Worcester sauce
  • garlic powder
  • Dijon mustard
  • Cajun spice
  • lemon juice
  • paprika
  • Salt
  • pepper

How to make french fries cajun dip

Aside from the fact that this remoulade is insanely delicious, it is easiest recipe make. Here are the steps:

  1. Whisk all ingredients together.
  2. Store the sauce in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the flavors to blend.

That’s all there is to it! Enough time to whip up some golden, salty fries! And then the immersion can begin!

What Are the Ingredients for Homemade French Fries?

  • red potatoes

How to make homemade french fries

There are two keys to perfection homemade french fries recipe…an ice bath and double roast. I explain…

  1. Peel the potatoes and slice them either by hand or with a chip cutter.
  2. Place the fries in an ice bath, then refrigerate the entire bowl for at least an hour.
    • PRO TIP: This removes much of the starch on the outside of the potato and cools it so that the outside crisps up when it hits the oil while the inside stays soft.
  3. Lay the fries on a towel to dry and heat the oil.
  4. When your oil has reached 300 degrees (I like to use a thermometer to keep an eye on the oil temp), start frying the fries in batches so you don’t overfill them. Let them fry for 4-5 minutes, then use a spider spoon to take them out onto a paper towel-lined plate.
  5. Once you’ve roasted all of the potatoes for the first time, turn up the heat and heat the oil to 400 degrees.
  6. Then use the spider spoon to gently drop the fries into the oil to fry them again. Repeat in batches until all fries are cooked through, place on a paper towel-lined plate and salt as you remove each batch.
    • PRO TIP: Double frying gives the fries the desired crispiness on the outside, while the middle stays nice and soft!
  7. When all the fries are double fried and salted, toss with the parmesan, garlic, parsley and Cajun spices and eat hot with the tartar sauce.

Storage, reheating and freezing

I think it’s common knowledge that french fries don’t keep well. They lose their crispiness and get mushy pretty quickly. So eat them hot and fresh!

If you have leftovers, let them cool completely and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They are best reheated in an air fryer.

The Cajun dipping sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. I wouldn’t recommend freezing it.

I’m writing this post while Disneyland is still closed due to COVID-19. There are plans to open it only to California residents in the next few weeks. Even if I can’t snag a real deal at Cafe Orleans, I’ll imitate this one French fries with Cajun dip recipe instead!

Update: I still haven’t made it to Disneyland since it reopened, but I’ve been to Disney World. The fries just weren’t the same there, and I prefer the dipping sauce at Cafe Orleans. Fifty points for Disneyland!

Ingredients

For the Cajun remoulade

  • 3/4 Cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcester sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Creole mustard or Dijon
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Peppers
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice or soak in brine or vinegar
  • salt and pepper taste good

For the french fries

  • 5 red potatoes
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil or peanut oil
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan powder
  • 2 tablespoon Parsely fresh, chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic fresh, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cajun spice Optional

instructions

For the Cajun remoulade

  • Mix all ingredients until you get a smooth mass.
    3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/3 cup ketchup, 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon Creole mustard, 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper
  • Refrigerate for 3 hours to allow the flavors to blend.

For the french fries

  • Cut the potatoes into fries or use a fry cutter.
    5 red-brown potatoes
  • The key to crispy fries is an ice bath and double frying. So, soak the fries in a bowl of ice water in the fridge for 1 hour. Rinse a few times with cold water and lay on a towel to dry.
  • Heat the oil to 300°C and once hot, add the fries in batches using a food processor or slotted spoon. After 4-5 minutes, transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
    2 liters of vegetable oil
  • Now increase the heat to about medium-high, about 400 degrees, and fry in portions for another 3-5 minutes.
  • Salt each portion as soon as it comes out. Once all of the fries are done and salted, toss with the parmesan, parsley, garlic, and Cajun seasoning.
    1/2 cup parmesan, 2 tablespoons parsley, 4 cloves of garlic, 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
