The Sycamore is a long-standing favorite of the German people that has undergone a bit of a transformation in recent years. Under new ownership from summer 2021, the neighborhood pub has received a welcome upgrade to offer lunch, dinner, drinks and now breakfast and coffee daily.
Part of the renovation includes a small coffee counter and a window in the front, so if you’re in the neighborhood you can stop by for a cappuccino and a pastry.
The updated space retains its cozy family atmosphere with brick walls, natural light and lots of natural wood accents.
Their coffee program uses Thunderkiss coffee from Columbus. You’ll find the usual coffee, cold brew and espresso drinks, as well as specialties like a raspberry latte, a buckwheat honey vanilla latte or seasonal specials.

If hot drinks aren’t your jam, you can enjoy refreshing drinks like espresso and tonic with a hint of blood orange.
Breakfast is served at The Sycamore from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily and includes coffee, pastries and half a dozen items.
The cakes rotate daily. We tried a chocolate croissant with Nutella and a blueberry scone. Both were fine. The croissant was a little bready and leaned too much into the dark dark chocolate, and the scone was a little dry but had good, juicy blueberries.
But the egg sandwich was a very nice starter: a small piece of scrambled egg, candied bacon, a slice of tomato, white cheddar, arugula, and a rich aioli.
Same with avocado toast!
Layer avocado, pickled carrot, scallion, toasted sesame and poppy seeds on various cereals. And of course we added the poached egg.
During the cafe’s service hours (7 am to 3 pm), customers order at the counter and take a number.
In addition to cafe hours, The Sycamore is open for dinner Monday through Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday, 4 to 11 p.m.
