When it comes to the holiday season, tables around the world often vary in terms of the dishes served. In the Philippine holiday festival, a dish that is almost always present is one of the beautiful hams or hamon. There’s just something uniquely delicious about a perfectly seasoned, sweet and juicy ham steak.

But how about taking a slightly different route for your next special occasion? You can still use your holiday ham for this recipe, but we’re going to try it with a slightly heartier, cheesy twist. Let me introduce you to my delicious Cheesy Ham Steak with Bacon and Mushroom Dish!
What does cheese ham steak with bacon and mushrooms taste like?
The original hamon dish is already quite popular, so you may be wondering – why the need for a variation? Well, for those who prefer their food less sweet but with that irresistible saltiness, a touch of bacon would go a long way to making your ham steak even better! The addition of gooey melted cheese is just icing on the cake. The best part is that this dish is quick and easy to make! How about we start?
Ingredients in Cheesy Ham Steak with Bacon and Mushrooms
CDO Holiday Ham
First up is our main ingredient, viz 500 grams of CDO Holiday Ham. This is perfect to use as it already has that gorgeous, pineapple-like flavor that we want in the dish. To prepare this, simply slice the ham so it’s 1 inch thick for each slice.
button fungus
let’s grab 300 grams of mushrooms even. Just like the first component, we’re going to break this up nicely. When choosing your mushrooms at the store, it’s best to choose those that are firm and fairly even in color with no stains or rot.
CDO Young Pork Bacon
For that touch of satisfying crunch, we’ll also incorporate 6 strips CDO Young Pork Bacon. Well, an important aspect of this dish is the proper preparation of our bacon. And so just cook these strips, being careful not to over-brown them. You’ll know you’re done when they’re perfectly crispy. We will also use this crumbled for the dish. I also like to use this ingredient for breakfast dishes. This bacon filled pancake is my favorite.
Cheddar cheese
To have 50 grams of cheddar cheese ready to top our ham with it. Cut these up too.

Onion
For a flavor boost and just the tiniest hint of spice 1 onionand then hack this.
garlic
you will need 3 cloves of garlic even. Chop these just like our onion so we don’t end up with large chunks in our dish.
Unsalted Butter
Since we want our ham to cook perfectly with a buttery finish, of course we need that 2 tablespoons unsalted butter.
cooking oil
To have 1 tablespoon cooking oil ready when we start frying the ham.
salt and ground black pepper
And just to make sure that there is enough salt and flavor in our dish, also prepare some salt and ground black pepper. The quantity would depend on you, and so you can prepare as much as you like before we start cooking.
How to make Cheesy Ham Steak with Bacon and Mushrooms
1. Fry some ingredients
- Melting Butter – What we’re going to start with is our skillet and butter. Just put in the butter and then let it melt with a bit of heat.
- Add Onion, Garlic, and Mushrooms – Then add your minced garlic and onion. When your onion softens, you can add the mushrooms as well. Then sauté together for a good 2 minutes. Sprinkle in as much ground black pepper and salt as you like. Then set it aside so we can work on the ham.
2. Cooking the ham
- Frying the Ham Steak – Get a new skillet and then pour your cooking oil into it. Let this heat up, and once it has, you’re ready to put the CDO Holiday Ham in. We will fry the first side for 3 minutes.
- Incorporate Cheddar Cheese – Now we can just flip the ham. Place 2 to 3 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the ham, then cover your pan. Let everything cook for 2 ½ minutes.
3. Serve the ham steak

- Serve the ham – we’re almost done! Just get your cooked ham and cheese and carefully place it on a serving plate. And then we top it all off with some crumbled bacon. As a side we will also have our sautéed mushrooms from before.
