The fact that it only takes about 5 minutes to prep means you can make a batch of this easy blender salsa as a last minute party appetizer or whenever you fancy it.

The Secret to the Best Mixer Salsa
Using canned whole tomatoes allows you to make delicious salsa time and time again, no matter the season. Forget those flimsy looking fresh tomatoes that are available off-season. Instead, just grab a can of whole tomatoes and quickly toss them together with a short list of ingredients to create the best salsa!
Notes on ingredients

- Canned tomatoes – I highly recommend using a can of whole San Marzano tomatoes. These high-quality Italian tomatoes are the best choice when tomatoes are the star of the recipe. They are slightly sweeter and less acidic than regular canned tomatoes.
- Diced green chillies – A small can of diced green chiles adds great flavor without the need for chopping.
- Onion – Either Red onion or milder sweet yellow onion. Red onions are a bit bolder than yellow ones, so choose what best suits your taste.
- coriander – For nice color contrast and great taste.
- Garlic – I recommend using fresh garlic instead of store-bought minced garlic in recipes that don’t involve cooking.
- jalapeno – Grab a piece of jalapeno to test the heat. They are usually fairly mild but can surprise me from time to time. I always leave some of the seeds intact to add some warmth to my spicy salsa lovers here.
- Spice – cumin, Saltand a bit Sugar to balance the acidity in the tomatoes.
- lime juice – The juice of a lime adds the citrus flavor that is so important to any good salsa. It also helps keep the salsa fresher for longer.
How to make mixer salsa

- Place the canned tomatoes in a blender or food processor with their juice and all remaining ingredients.
- Then simply pulse until you reach the desired consistency. It couldn’t be easier!
pro tip
The salsa is immediately delicious, but the flavors intensify even more as it chills. I recommend using the amount of spices listed in the recipe and tasting after refrigerating for an hour or more. At this point, you can add additional cilantro or spices if needed.
The blender pictured above is my powerful ninja blender that comes with a separate bowl for the food processor. Such better value than those super pricey blenders and I absolutely love it (not sponsored, just pure love here).

storage tips
This recipe makes the perfect amount of salsa that fits in a quart-sized mason jar. Instead of the standard metal lids, I use reusable plastic mason jar lids in assorted colors. They’re great for storing things like salad dressing and salsa, and they look cute in the fridge! But any airtight container will do for storing this salsa in the fridge.
- Refrigerate – Blender Salsa stays fresh and delicious in an airtight container for a week or more. For longer storage, I recommend freezing.
- Freezing salsa – This salsa freezes very well. Simply transfer as much as you wish to freeze into a freezer safe plastic bag, squeeze out as much air as possible and seal. Salsa can be frozen for up to three to four months.
Can I Can Blender Salsa?
You should never attempt to make a salsa recipe this has not been checked for safety. To be safely canned, all recipes call for a very specific pH level from an added acid such as vinegar or citrus juice. This Blender salsa does not contain enough lime juice to make it a good canning candidate.
