With only 2 ingredients and 5 minutes to make, the best creamy hemp milk is quick and easy to make! Just mix and enjoy, no straining required. Hemp milk is super rich and creamy and can be used in cereals, cooking or baking, smoothies and there is also the option of making it into hemp cream which is perfect for coffee or creamy sauces!
How does horn milk taste? Like almond milk, hemp milk is neutral with a mild almond flavor, but it’s actually much creamier than almond or soy milk. That’s why it’s one of my favorite non-dairy milks to use when cooking, baking, or in my coffee. Yum!
Not only is it delicious, hemp milk is very good for you. Flax seeds are incredibly nutritious. They are high in protein and rich in healthy fats and essential amino acids, including omega-3 and omega-6. They are an excellent source of vitamin E and minerals, such as potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and iron.
One of the reasons I love making hemp milk is because hemp hearts are naturally very tender, so they break up easily in a blender with no soaking required! That’s why they’re such an amazing option for making homemade plant-based milks that are completely nut-free.
Just add hemp hearts and water to a blender and blend! That’s it. No straining or bagging of almond milk is required as there is no pulp. You can optionally add some sweetener such as agave, maple syrup, or sugar, a pinch of vanilla, and if you want chocolate hemp milk, mix in some cocoa or cacao powder.
How to make hemp milk:
The only ingredients you will need are water and hemp hearts. Make sure you use hemp hearts (which are hemp seeds). Do not use hemp seeds as they will not mix properly. Hemp heart can be found in the health food section of your grocery store. If your store doesn’t carry them, you can find them at health food stores or on Amazon. You can also mix your milk with your favorite sweetener and/or vanilla extract or cocoa powder if you like.
The instructions are the same whether you are making hemp milk or hemp cream. Add water and hemp hearts to a blender. Optionally you can add sweetener and/or vanilla extract. Blend very well until it is completely smooth and creamy (I like to blend for at least 2 minutes). Pour into a bottle or container with a lid and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. It should keep fresh for 5 – 7 days or you can freeze it. Shake well before use as milk may settle and separate. Use hemp milk in cereal, baking, cooking in coffee or tea, wherever you want!
