I love teaching and learning with my daughter. Baby J and I spend a lot of time together playing, creating and chatting. I especially love teaching him new things in the kitchen! As I wrap up my holiday cocktail series, I wanted to create a family-friendly drink that we can all enjoy – Baby J included. This apple nutmeg mocktail is festive and frothy. It’s a new favorite for us!
I’ve been experimenting a lot lately with recipes for my new cookbook. One thing I wanted to include more of were refreshing drinks, so I created this holiday cocktail series while testing other recipes. This series has been a lot of fun, but this drink might be my favorite of all! It’s fruity, it’s spicy and it’s super frothy. That makes it so much fun to drink!
This apple nutmeg mocktail is a non-alcoholic version of whiskey sour. Traditional sours use egg whites, so to make this drink vegetarian and kid-friendly, I took out the whiskey and replaced the eggs with bean water. Ha!
I’m not crazy—aquafaba is the liquid left over from cooking chickpeas. The result is the perfect vegan egg substitute, and when you add it to a drink shaker and shake it up, it creates a nice and bubbly foam to float in your drink.
Of course you can add a shot (or two) of whiskey to the cocktail shaker to make an absolutely delicious adult drink! Enjoy this apple nutmeg mocktail with your loved ones around the tree with cinnamon sticks.
