Banana Split Ingredients

  • Banana: This recipe is the perfect way to use up overripe bananas. The more mature the better!
  • Cinammon: Sprinkle some cinnamon on the banana.
  • Greek yogurt: I like Fage or Stonyfield Greek yogurt, but any kind will work. You can also use vanilla yogurt and omit the syrup.
  • Non dairy: Use your favorite non-dairy yogurt like coconut or almond.
  • maple syrup: Swap it out for honey or agave.
  • pecans: Chop two tablespoons of pecans. You can use walnuts or almonds, or omit them if you are allergic.

How to make a banana split for breakfast

  • Banana air fry: Cut a ripe banana in three quarters lengthways and sprinkle with cinnamon. Air fry the banana at 200°F for five to six minutes until tender.
  • Greek yogurt sauce: While the banana is cooking, mix a teaspoon of syrup into the yogurt.
  • Banana Split Toppings: When the banana is done, garnish with the yogurt, cinnamon, pecans, and the remaining syrup.

Variations:

  • Drizzle over the banana with chocolate syrup, almond butter or peanut butter.
  • Fruit: Add fresh berries, pomegranate seeds, raisins, dried cranberries, or crushed freeze-dried strawberries.
  • Cover your banana split with chocolate chips, muesli, coconut chips or coconut flakes.
  • Spices: Add a sprinkling of nutmeg or cardamom, or substitute pumpkin pie spice for cinnamon.
  • Classic banana split: Make it for dessert with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and a cherry on top.

No air fryer? No problem!

Bake the bananas in the oven at 200°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
