Blackened is one of my favorite ways to enjoy salmon.
It’s delicious flaked and stuffed into tacos, on salads, or plain with a squeeze of lemon and served with rice and broccoli. I usually prepare a few fillets ahead of time for lunch during the week or after my evening yoga class. Not only is blackened salmon deliciously flavorful and slightly spicy, it’s also incredibly easy to make. All you need is 3 ingredients and about 15 minutes. And an air fryer.

To prepare blackened salmon you will need:
- Salmon fillets – preferably wild caught.
- Ghee Oil Spray – Adds moisture and helps brown the spices and form a crust.
- Blackened Seasoning – Homemade or store-bought.
Preheat your hot air fryer to 390° to 400° – depending on the brand and model.
What is air roast?
- An air fryer is a countertop appliance that uses less oil (anything from a few squirts to 1 tablespoon) and still produces crispy food that rivals most fried foods. Using circulating hot air, it moves at high speed, so food usually cooks in a fraction of the time.
- There are many different brands and models of air fryers. My husband did some research (as you know) and found this air fryer [affiliate] to be one of the best. But do your research and buy one that fits your lifestyle.
How is air roast healthier?
- Air frying is healthier because the food is only coated in a thin layer of oil and becomes crispy on contact with hot air. Save a ton of fat and calories (without sacrificing flavor!) by not submerging the food in a vat of hot oil.
- Remember that not all air fryers are created equal. Some preheat and some don’t. Some are smaller than others, so you may need to work in smaller batches to air fry them.

Spray the fillets lightly with ghee oil spray.
Season generously with 1-1/2 to 2 tablespoons blackened seasoning.
Season each fillet on all sides.
Place the fillets on the liner of your air fryer and spray lightly again with ghee oil spray.
Air fry 7 to 9 minutes or until fish is opaque and flakes easily.

Preheat your hot air fryer to 390° or 400° depending on the make and model.

Spray your salmon lightly with olive oil spray. Generously season the top and sides of each fillet, lightly spraying one last time.

Place the salmon on the Airfryer insert and fry for 8 to 9 minutes or until flaky.
