Ingredients for steak marinade
What ingredients go into the steak marinade? There are some basic ingredients that usually make up the base of a steak marinade, and we’ve added our own twist too! Everything you need is here.
- Worcester sauce– Many steak marinades include Worcestershire because it’s a vinegar-based sauce that contains ingredients like anchovies, garlic, tamarind, and other ingredients that create a salty sauce that pairs perfectly with steak.
- balsamic vinegar– some sugar to balance the saltiness of this marinade comes from the balsamic vinegar.
- Chopped Garlic– Adding fresh garlic to any marinade adds so much flavor. We do not recommend substituting garlic powder.
- olive oil– The olive oil binds all the ingredients of the steak marinade together.
- lemon juice– some lemon juice will lighten this marinade and help tenderize the steak before you cook it.
- lemon pepper– Adding some lemon pepper to this marinade brings out the lemon flavor in the marinade.

How long should steaks marinate?

Rarely: 130ºF
Half done: 140ºF
Middle: 155ºF
Well done: 165ºF
Keep in mind that the internal temperature of your steak will continue to rise by about 5°F after cooking.
