OMNI Launches Vegan Bao Bun and Crystal Dumplings in the US – Vegetarian

Hong Kong-based alt meat brand OMNI is set to launch two new appetizers – Vegan Bao Bun and Crystal Dumplings – in the US next month.

Each Asian-inspired recipe is created by a Michelin-starred dim sum expert. The bao buns are available in teriyaki and gochujang flavors and are made with a proprietary formula for an authentic fluffy texture. The dumplings contain vegetables and minced plant-based meat, encased in a soft and chewy transparent wrapper.

Updated packaging

The launches come as OMNI US announces a packaging update for its range of meat options These include crab-style cakes, golden fish-style fillets, classic fish-style fillets, meat-style luncheon, pork-style ground and pork-style strips. The update will also apply to the brand’s existing appetizers, potstickers and spring rolls.

The new design aims to more clearly communicate OMNI’s ethos and plant-based message, with vibrant colors and a new logo. The product itself will remain unchanged.

“Healthy, Delicious and Versatile”

OMNI first arrived in the U.S. in 2021, when its plant-based pork was introduced to 25 restaurants across the country. Later that year, the pork became available for retail sale at Sprouts and Whole Foods stores in 23 states.

In July 2022, OMNI’s seafood alternative online marketplace GTFO debuted in the US with It’s Vegan. Soon after, the brand partnered with North America’s largest food redistributor, Dot Foods, before launching in more than 1,000 Walmart stores.

“We are very conscious of bringing customers together and making sure they find the OMNI products they love,” said David Yeung, co-founder and CEO of OMNI. “We are a mission-driven brand focused on providing our growing consumer base with healthy, delicious and versatile plant-based meat alternatives so they can prepare good meals at home. My team and I believe that our fresh packaging clearly explains who we are and our mission to build a multifaceted global ecosystem of future food that helps address climate change, food insecurity, public health crises, planetary devastation and meat overconsumption. “
