French toast never looked (or tasted) so good, thanks to this simple, yet mouth-watering recipe from Follow Your Hearts. The VeganEgg Cookbook.
do you want:
¼ cup VeganEgg powder
1 cup ice-cold almond or soy milk
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Half a teaspoon of ground spices
¼ teaspoon cardamom
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons oil, plus more for coating the pan
6 slices of bread
what do you do:
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together vegan egg powder, ice-cold almond or soy milk, sea salt, cinnamon, allspice, cardamom, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and oil. Whisk until smooth and slightly thickened, about 1 minute. Set aside.
2. Pre-heat grill or pan to medium-high heat. Grease the grease with additional oil. Dip each piece of bread in the batter so that the excess drips back into the bowl and then pan or fry in a hot pan.
3. Cook until lightly golden, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 3 minutes or until golden.
Serve hot and top with real maple syrup and fresh fruit of your choice.
